How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The parking being on a steep incline wasn’t the greatest when pulling away or parking but nothing can be done about that!

The location is perfect! The guest house was perfect in every way. The power shower was AMAZING! The bed was the comfiest ever! The views from the room were stunning. The breakfast was top quality.

I recommend this bed and breakfast as a perfect Lake District vacation. I stopped here over a long weekend in early November. Powe House was of a very high standard. The lounge on the ground floor was a perfect reading room with lovely comfortable chairs and well placed reading lamps. The room was clean with all the comforts. What I thought was an added bonus that the hosts provides a small bottle of real milk per day instead of those UHT plastics. The breakfast room was laid out well and a good variation on the menu. I will definitely come back to this. The host knows a few shortcuts to get you into Keswick and the hill climbs.

Host was very welcoming. Really peaceful, comfortable bed, lovely welcome goodies. Nice pub a couple of minutes walk away, we didn't eat there but food looked delicious.

Breakfast wasn't served until 8.30 a.m. We would have preferred earlier however the later time did make us slow down and relax more - helping us to switch off from the busyness of life.
The bed was extremely comfortable. Good water pressure in the bathroom - amazing shower! Breakfast was superb, with a good selection and large portions. There was a friendly atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble.

The length of our stay,
Breakfast was superb. Better than I have had in 5 star hotels. The room was well equipped, scrupulously clean and the proprietor friendly without being intrusive.

Breakfast is made fresh to order and consequently only available between 8:30 and 9am: this was very clearly communicated and there was an option to opt-out in advance and be reimbursed, which is great. It's just worth flagging for hikers who like to leave very early that they will need to procure breakfast themselves.
Excellent breakfast; great location with free parking; very friendly, helpful host; large, comfortable room with nice products and generous supply of tea and biscuits; property had a separate downstairs lounge to relax in, which was a nice touch.

The hosts were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. Coffee was lovely too. Very clean and would highly recommended anyone staying, we will definitely be planning another visit in the future. Parking available also at the house. Easy access to Keswick town as well as the Derwent Lake.

Tea and coffee at breakfast could have been hotter..but then it's hard to keep beverages hot in lovely china cups!
We emailed tbe owners re restaurant recommendations before our arrival and they replied immediately with 3 excellent suggestions.Fab house. Great rooms Great location.
