Toilet / shower was outside the bedroom, which we did not expect. Towels remained wet throughout stay as there was no heated towel rail and no-one bothered to change them. Shower plug was filthy underneath. Breakfast tea and coffee served in mugs and of weak/poor quality. Because the breakfast plates were cold, the food was also lukewarm and the table top felt rough to the touch. It was a table which shouldn't have been used or should have had a table cloth on it and although there were better tables we could have been seated at, we weren't seated at one of them. No condiments nor cutlery etc were on the table. On the third morning I was seated in the breakfast area with no lights on! It was almost as if no-one could be bothered with us (we might hv been the only ones there at the time).Yet while the upstairs bedroom was pleasant enough, staff in the 'eating area' downstairs (it was no longer used as a restaurant) did not make us feel welcome. The Prince of Wales, sited opposite Osbourne House, could be a fantastic hotel and bar if the owner / manager cared enough to make it (and the staff) fantastic!

Lovely bedroom and the location was great for us.

Based on the main road, it was noisy. However, that is to be expected. The bar closed early, so as guests, we couldn't get a drink at 9pm. Had to ask for toilet paper, as only small amount on roll. Found invoice for a previous guest in the bedside cabinet, so it wasn't cleaned properly.

The price was a bit too much and the location was a bit far however it was great for Osbourne House which did prove a interesting visit!

Initially we were told the incorrect information the night before regarding the breakfast times however a female member of staff was very kind and offered us food and drink outside the hours of breakfast which really did help my diabetic friend! It was most helpful and above all a good level of customer service!

Room a little small as we were traveling with 2 large suitcases - shower on the small side , very hard to turn around - both things cannot be changed due to the way the hotel has been built all those years ago - no evening meals available while we were there meant we had to walk or drive to fund something else open

Breakfast was excellent- staff very friendly and helpful - right opposite the entrance to Osbourne House which was our reason to go Isle of Wight - room and bathroom very clean

Room was a bit dusty with a few cobwebs. The bin had been emptied from the previous stay and the bag was hanging on the bed. Also some hairs in the beds & the towels were quite small.

Staff were super friendly, really accommodating and couldn't have been more friendly. Breakfast was really tasty with decent portions. Really good location with a bus stop right outside, wide range of drinks and a good price for island prices.

Not really a dislike as having read the reviews we knew what to expect. The Prince of Wales is more a local pub that does B&B than your standard hotel (or at least out of season it seems); so check in is at the bar, and during pub opening times. Understand this and you won't be disappointed, and will have a lovely stay.

The staff were really helpful, particularly as I got the dates wrong and arrived a week early; but that was no problem and they quickly and happily accommodate my error. Breakfast was very good, cooked to order and served with a smile.

The outside could do with a big spruce up and vans moved as the kerb appeal made our spirits sink. The bar which we didn't use was run down and stank of stale cigarette smoke.

Our room was lovely but small. Difficult trying to get ready for a wedding with nowhere to put makeup or hair straighteners. Shower was a bit on the small side. The staff were all lovely especially the girl that served us at breakfast, which was lovely.

    Comfortable Victorian Pub

A few things we would suggest for improving is teaspoons in the room and it to be clear that the pub is actually closed until 3pm in the week, rather than just this being the check in time. This is totally on us for not getting in touch, but we did try to leave our bags around 1130 before going to Carisbrooke Castle (understanding we wouldnt get to go to our room) but it was locked up. Not their fault, but something to be aware of if you want to do the same.

The breakfast was really good, our room whilst small was comfortable enough and most importantly clean. I was pleased that the shower had decent power and warm water. The room was quiet, although on a Saturday night you have to accept that a pub with entertainment is going to have some noise and the drag queen was very good and finished at a reasonable time). Location is great, we got the No.5 bus from Newport (15mins and literally stops at the pub door!) and literally cross the road to Osborne House. Evening food is not available but they recommended the Victoria Tavern which did tasty food with friendly service about 15mins walk away.
