Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhen we arrived (and eventually found a member of staff), we were told that unfortunately the hotel was closed and that we would have to be upgraded to the chalet. We were relieved about this as the hotel looked really grubby and outdated. We think that they had had so few bookings that they closed the hotel.
We were upgraded at no extra cost to one of the chalets outside the hotel. It was lovely and warm, and spacious.

United KingdomRoom was in the main building. No lift to 1st floor Room seemed to be in the process of refurbishing from old-style furniture and noisy fan extractor in en-suite,
Room was cold - no heating and weather was raining and miserable so a warm welcoming hotel would have been good. Reception gave us an electric heater which warmed us us well. Reception staff were helpful and apologetic.

United KingdomWhile very clean and tidy, it is plain that the hotel requires some investment in updating decor and facilities. I suspect that CV19 Lockdowns did it no favours.
Good food, excellent staff.

United KingdomThe bar was shut when we were around, I think it was only temporary though! Due to the location we struggle to get space in the nearest pub, which is the only one in the village.
Breakfast was very good, could chose in between continental breakfast and full breakfast with vegetarian options! Rooms were nice and beds were comfy.

United KingdomIt was a nice place I would stay again but they are pushing on the price as it's very outdated and tired. The room I was in in main hotel was clean but did need a lick of paint and better beds they were very hard mattresses the cabin like thing outside other family member was in was like going back to the 70s very outdated and uncomfortable. £188 for one night a twin and a single is pushing it on price for this hotel. The staff are amazing very helpful and nice it's a shame it's so outdated. If I'm up that neck of the woods again and the price hasn't changed I would stay again but if the put the price up I would have second thoughts

United KingdomThere was nothing that I did not like and I would stay there again for sure.
Hotel is conveniently located on the main road. My room was at the rear of the property so was quiet. Warm welcome and staff were very helpful even assisting me in my choice of beer giving me a taster of two types of beer that I enquired about. The evening meal and breakfast were well cooked and presented. It is nice to visit a ' conventional ' old style hotel for a change from the ' big chain ' hotels and I feel that they should be supported.

United KingdomThe breakfast room was a little chilly and the coffee was not very hot. The bar didn't serve either Crabbies or ginger beer which are my favourite drinks.
What we needed after a rather wet day walking in the hills was a warm room, hot shower, hearty meal and comfortable bed. The Spean Bridge Hotel provided all of these.

United KingdomWe had a family room around the back away from the main hotel. It was slightly smelly but reasonably clean. The plug sockets were scarce and in unusual positions. Beds not quite as comfortable as we had hoped! But the bedding was fresh and clean.
The location was good and the room reasonable. The BEST feature is the staff. The lady on reception and the young chap in the bar in particular were friendly, helpful, chatty and engaging. A complete asset to the hotel.

Staff very helpful throughout. Some of the staff working like trojans and did themselves and the hotel proud. Excellent location, easy to find, easy to park and good food. Rooms were mostly chalet style, but secure and comfortable with all facilities avail to touch. OK it was a little tired in places, but it all worked and was comfortable. A very reasonable price to boot. Another little gem of a place

United KingdomEverything was just what we needed.
This hotel was very basic, VERY clean. The rooms were spacious and the beds were probably the best I've every slept in! It was quiet even thought there was a "Three Peaks " climbing part there. Parking is easy peasy. The best thing (apart from the bed) was the staff. They were so warm and welcoming. We shall be back. Thank you.
