Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stand-up lamp in the main bedroom was broken, but was fixed very quickly during my stay after mentioning it to the owner.
Exceptional location, easy access to town. Great area for a variety of pubs and restaurants. I felt safe, even late at night in the area. Very easy bus routes to Heathrow, Gatwick and Oxford University off-campus locations.

United KingdomMany of the things which could have been improved can be done easily- if I had the choice I'd still choose it as a place to stay! The blinds in the bedroom facing St. Clement street were broken and so it was hard to sleep with the bright lights shining in the window. The TV was not working which was difficult because I had a small child. I requested repeatedly that it be fixed over the week of our stay and it was not. Under the furniture could use some thorough cleaning. Finally, There is a steep staircase for getting up to the flat, which should be noted for people with mobility challenges.
Location was great, the flat was overall good value. Slept a lot of people and was comfortable, the kitchen worked great.

United KingdomThe heating wasn't working on arrival and all windows were open so it was freezing (January). We realised the wifi controller for the heating needed batteries and were advised by the landlord to go and buy some. The flat is adequately equipped but no cafetiere (basic coffee pot). None of the side lamps were working in the bedrooms.
Well located for a short walk into the city centre, and easily accessible from Thornhill Park n Ride

United KingdomThe shower head was loose on the wall and could be placed higher on the wall for taller guests. Only 1 key was available so if 4 people were staying it becomes difficult if you wanted to separate. Coasters would be useful for tea and coffee to avoid marks on the table. Also no tea towels available in the kitchen. Maybe bigger guest towels would give a bit more luxury.
The location was good for middle of Oxford. The beds were comfortable and the lounge set up was comfortable with the dining table and sofa. Kitchen was well equipped and very clean. The communication has been very effective and the video explains how to enter the property was very useful. Great WiFi and Netflix/ YouTube and TV channels great. Over all very comfortable stay thank you.

ColombiaOur only negative point is that we didn't know how steep and narrow the stairs were. The host should warn guests about this because I was the only one able to take the bags upstairs as my parents were seniors.
The place was great and cozy; the beds were comfy, and the kitchen was fully equipped. The social areas are small but that's alright, is not like you're going to stay much there. It's located very close to Magdalen College.

BelgiumFirst of all it was difficult to find the entrance to no.49, as it is not between 48 and 50, as one can expect. When we did - at the back of the building from st Caroline street, which is a side street and not indicated in the directions from the property - we were welcomed by huge trash bins blocking the entrance, then some steep stairs going up to the apartment located on the first floor. The window to the bedroom by the street was open and it was not possible to close it throughout our stay ( 2 nights), even though we made the observation os we arrived. The property was in contact with us reassuring that they were looking for the key to close the window, but that did not happen for the remainder of our stay. Not only it was noisy from the street during the two nights, but it was also a security issue, as the flat was on the 1st floor with an open window towards the street for 72h.
The location within walking distance from main attractions.

United StatesWell located but terrible first impression due to entry being in an alley with garbage bins. Needs deep cleaning (floors sticky) and all new bedding and towels. Sheets and towels have stains (only 4 towels and very old), blankets are unwashed and sheets on twin beds were clearly not fresh/replaced from prior guests. Broken lampshade and bedroom blinds. Bathroom was clean as was kitchen - refrigerator was clean.

United KingdomDo not rent this accommodation. Whilst the location is good and the facilities adequate, the property management company who manage it are terrible to deal with. The company requires you to sign a rental agreement and provide a £200 bond for the property which I was happy to do as I am a careful and honest traveller. A tap malfunctioned during my stay at the property (we turned it on but then it would not turn off and had to be turned off at the mains to control the unending flow of water). The management company were immediately informed and did not attribute any blame to me, even offering me a "10 star review" for being a good guest. However, despite this clearly being a problem with a faulty tap, the property management company then, without informing me, deducted £150 from my bond to cover the cost of replacing the tap. This goes against 2 terms of their rental agreement (that only non-accidental damages would be charged for but also that a process would be followed allowing the guest 48 hours to respond prior to ). This is a clear breach of contract on their part but they refuse to refund the money and I am currently following due process to try to get my money back. I worry that they are trying to take advantage of tourists so strongly advise you to avoid this property.

United KingdomUnwelcoming Entrance: Upon arriving at the house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. The entrance lacked a warm and inviting ambiance, which set a negative tone for the rest of the stay. It would have been great if more attention had been given to creating a pleasant first impression. Dirty and Tiny Fridge: One of the primary issues I encountered was the state of the fridge. It was unclean and gave the impression that it hadn't been properly maintained. Additionally, I wish it had been mentioned beforehand that the fridge was tiny in size. This made it quite challenging to store and organize food for the duration of my stay. Lack of Storage Space: Another major drawback of the flat was the absence of closets or wardrobes. It was extremely inconvenient not to have a designated area to store our clothes and belongings. The presence of only one hanging bar to accommodate a few items was a major letdown. It would have been highly beneficial to have sufficient storage options available. Scarcity of Mirrors: Surprisingly, there were no mirrors in the entire flat except for one in the bathroom. This made it inconvenient for multiple guests to get ready simultaneously or check their appearance outside of the bathroom. It would have been ideal to have mirrors in other areas of the flat as well. Functional Issues: Beyond the disappointing aesthetics, there were functional problems that further impacted my stay. The shower head was not working correctly, which made it difficult to enjoy a comfortable shower. Additionally, the flush button in the bathroom was broken, causing inconvenience and discomfort.
I like that the kitchen is literally equipped with anything that you will need during your stay. only if the fridge wasn’t tiny though. the fridge can fit food for up to two people max

United KingdomPictures of living room were very misleading. There are two flats so I assume the picture was of the living room in the other flat, or taken on the widest angle lens available. Our living room was really tiny. Since it was supposed to serve as a sleeping room too (so the whole flat is meant to sleep 6) I'd suggest being more straightforward about its size. Then people can judge for themselves whether they are prepared to be that squashed. Heating and hot water were not on when we arrived. Spent ages thinking I was incapable of working the remote control before leaving a message late on the first night. Turned out that the cleaner had turned the boiler off. For these things I would have given it a 7/8 rating, but I happened to look for something under the bed in the main bedroom. Turned out that one of the reasons that the place looked pretty clean was that other people's detritus (lots of toilet tissue, chewing gum wrappers, along with alot of thick dust) had been swept under the bed.
Excellent location, well-equipped kitchen, though we barely used it. Good communication when I reported that the heating wasn't working. It's an okay flat for four people - fairly central (though definitely not 'stunning'), but the final issue below is beyond the pale.
