We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

United KingdomThere was really nothing not to like. We wouldn't have expected one but it may be worth mentioning that there was no lift for anyone who has a difficulty with stairs. However, we were told that they would try and accommodate anyone who has such difficulties-with a lower room.
We had a reasonable choice of breakfast with pleasant and helpful table service staff. We didn't ask for more but there was no buffet we could raid! The breakfast room was very well presented albeit slightly cramped - but I am rather large. South Shields is far better than some might imagine and we were excellently located for the large beach, nearby shops and a large park with a lake. There were plenty of food premises located nearby. Other than along the coast, the road system could be a bit daunting but there was fairly easy access to public transport into Newcastle and around the area. The nearby ferry across the Tyne was convenient and cheap to use. Our room at the back at the top gave us a view over nearby houses and the antics of the seagulls and other birds kept us entertained! It also meant that there was no noise from traffic. Food was also available to non-residents throughout the day. We never had a problem parking in the streets nearby which were quite popular with day visitors.

United KingdomThe £1 charge for extra hot water to top up our tea pot at lunch. It wasn't until a day before arrival that we learned "breakfast included" only included cereal and toast. A full English was available at £10 per person per night.
The staff were all very friendly, the hotel was very clean and the room was very comfortable. We needed a taxi and the hotel staff were happy to book this for us. Batteries for the TV remote were replaced quickly and the missing bath towel provided promptly.

SpainThe ad said that breakfast was incluided. When I arrived I was asked for un aditional 10GBP for the English breastfast saying that the breastfast incluided on the price was the continental one. That could be fine with me. Surprise: Coffee, cereals and toast with jam or preserve. Not fresh fruit or cheese or ham... I was told that I was upgraded to a room with double bed...they never said that next door was a little babay, who was very good and only cry a little bit once a day.

United KingdomWalls were paper thin, so the guy who was talking loudly on the phone in the next room kept me awake, but minor point. Also, pillow was like a bag of spanners! New pillows and some soundproofing and is would have been perfect.
Member of staff (young male, sorry can't recall name) was very helpful, pleasant, and professional. Room was clean and well laid out, good use of the space.
