Reception had a funny smell when I arrived like toilet but luckily this did not extend to my room. You couldn't open the window in the bathroom as it had a sign on it asking you not to as it was in the process of being repaired... though the sign had clearly been there a long time. The water bottle that gets filled needs washing around the rim, looked like a bit of limescale or something.

The breakfast was nice (though not a huge portion). My bed was super super comfy and I slept so well! The room was very warm and cosy. Lovely dinner with fab portions, I had the veggie wellington.

The public areas of the hotel and pub could probably do with a bit of refinement, or redecoration. But it's a very old building.

Terrific location in an unfamiliar city, next door to the cathedral with free parking (albeit limited). Historic building and very large bedroom with four poster bed, and very good shower. Friendly staff; generous breakfast of good quality; reasonably priced bar restaurant meal and drinks. Our bedroom had been recently redecorated and was very clean. Nice bedding and towels. Very good price.

The bed was a little soft for me and the shower takes ages to heat up but otherwise nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was really good with an excellent choice and lovely cooked options, The full cream milk (I assume locally sourced) on each table was a nice touch. Staff could not have been more helpful, and the facilities were good including a plentiful supply of plug sockets which was a bonus in this really old building. It is spotlessly clean and located right next to the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace.

Lovely staff, well placed pub with good resturant for an evening meal food in the evening was superb. Breakfast a little disapointing in quality and volume. Love the pub cat. Provison of ear plugs was thoughtful and bed very comfortable. Will visit again.

Located in centre of city. Was able to walk to All the Hot Fuzz filming locations.Staff very friendly. Able to park at property.

Unfortunately our room was over the bar and the music could be heard in our room. Fortunately we didn't want to go to sleep before 11pm. This didn't affect our opinion of our stay. Earplugs were provided because of the Saturday market and we didn't hear a thing

Comfortable room and bed. Breakfast was very good. The pub was very lively and popular with a great atmosphere.

Water pressure in the shower was a bit low, but not unusable.

We had a lovely room at the front of the building. It is an old building, with the usual creaking floorboards as expected. The windows are single glazed so noise from the outside can be heard, especially with the market stalls being set up. However if you are warned about this, which we were, then it's not really an issue and adds to the whole experience of the accommodation. Location to visit the Cathedral and Bishops Palace and of course the market is perfect, you're right in the middle of the City. Breakfast is delicious, well cooked local produce with the added selection of cereal, croissants, fruit. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was lovely too. Overall we had a lovely experience and would definitely return.

Nothing really. Just be aware that it is a stunning centuries old building so the bathroom is not modern but it has all the basics, the floor cracks in very few places as you walk around and I loved it, it adds to the atmosphere. Could not see an hair dryer though... maybe something to add if there isn't?

Great atmosphere. Lovely staff despite being very busy at the pub, they were running back and forth, hard working people but were still welcoming. Perfect location. My room was extremely quiet, could not hear a thing from the pub or the market square but I was in a top floor room.(except when the Easter bells went on for over an hour, but this is just an Easter thing) One of my clients could hear a bit of noise for a little while but it went all quiet after closure, except for the ghost in her room 😃 The location is stunning. I had room 12 which made me feel like a male version of Belle in Beauty and the Beast with its decor and the stunning views of the market square and the cathedral, just wanted to sing' Bonjour' from the movie when I woke up. The beds a cosy and comfortable. Room 1, the one my client said was haunted by a lovely ghost, was absolutely stunning. Get that room for the fun of it. The breakfast is good, you can order an English/vegetarian/avocado on toast if you wish and there is a small buffet with bread, croissants fruits coffee/tea and juices, marmalades and Co if you don't want the hot food. There is tea coffee and water in the room. Price was typical UK price, but we'll worth the money. I own a hiking business and will be back.

The hot water/shower needs attention (it doesn't work) also the younger bar staff were very indifferent and more interested in their phone or each other

The location was perfect and the staff at breakfast were really friendly
