How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I don't believe there is anything negative we can say about our stay.
The Guest House was in a quiet location with ample parking. Our room had a pleasant view over the park. The full English breakfast was very tasty, well presented and hot. We couldn't fault it. The location is very convenient for a visit to the nearby Bomber Command Museum. We are planning to stay here again soon.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Old Lodge. Deborah and Gordon couldn't have done enough for us, credit to them as hosts. Brilliant breakfast and a lovely decorated bedroom.

It was a bit noisy from the room above us but that's part of a Victorian house to be honest. We have hardly had any problems with it.
Great room with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Wonderful host who even dropped us off at Lincoln Cathedral. Great breakfast. Free parking in front of the door.

The location is a decent walk from the beautiful old town and the Cathedral. Ok for us but could be a bit of a headache if the rain is tumbling down.
The guest house was well appointed, tidy, and the hosts were great.

I booked this accommodation on behalf of my aunty and uncle who came to stay for the 1940's weekend, they told me that they were extremely pleased with the accommodation and when coming to visit again would book to stay there, and that it is the perfect place to put up visiting guests. They said that the hosts were extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble , the rooms were excellent as was breakfast and they enjoyed the uninterrupted view of the Common from the breakfast room. When communicating with the host I found them to be excellent in their response and extremely flexible with check in times. Thankyou for providing such a lovely stay for my family :)

Nothing - everything was perfect
The Old Lodge is an amazing B&B, beautifully furnished and decorated. The owners, Gordon and Deborah couldn’t do enough for us from the minute we arrived. From ice cold bottles of water (very welcome after our journey on a very warm June day), to offering lifts into town, they were the most wonderful hosts. Our room was a great size with a really comfortable bed, and the en-suite had a lovely big shower. Breakfast was freshly prepared and cooked each morning by Gordon, and attentively served by Deborah, with a wide selection of cereals, croissants, jams, yoghurts, fruit and a delicious full cooked breakfast. Listen out for Gordon singing along to a variety of songs as he’s working away in the kitchen - he sounds like a man very happy in his work 😁😁 The location is a little bit out of the centre of Lincoln (a steady 15 minute walk), on a quiet, leafy street, with loads of free parking. It sits opposite South Commons, a large public parkland with grazing horses, which offers some peaceful walks, and provided us with lovely views from our room and the breakfast room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Lodge - it’s definitely the best place we have stayed at for a very, very long time, and we would definitely recommend it to everyone. If we are ever visiting Lincoln again, we’ll definitely stay here again.

Small bed.
Very nice host carried my suitcase upstairs! Beautiful breakfast room. Very generous breakfast beginning with warm croissants. Across from a large field with friendly horses and walking trails. Very convenient distance to waterfront restaurants.

The breakfast was beautifully presented, freshly cooked and hot with plenty of choice. The components of the full english were of a high quality and all was very tasty. We were not rushed at all and didn't have to check out until 11am, it was a lovely, relaxing and most comfortable stay. We shall return at our earliest opportunity.
