The price reflects the standards of the property but tips the dial on whether it can be considered good value for money. The breakfast service was a little lacklustre although the food was excellent. We had to ask for a coffee to be changed which was done a little grudgingly… which is a shame because overall the attention and service at the hotel was exceedingly good.

The location and the grounds within the property were superb and the bedroom was super comfortable.

The staff were very welcoming, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The hotel itself was stunning and the spa was small but exactly what you need. The room was well equipped with all you would need for a short stay. The turn down service was great and they gave our room a lovely refresh. I think the welcoming and hospitable staff make this hotel that bit more special!

The staff here were true god sends. There was a family emergency when we were staying, everyone was so accommodating and helpful when the emergency services arrived. Even offering to close off one of the front rooms for privacy. Not only this, but the spa, the rooms and the beds were amazing. I cannot fault the staff here one bit, they all were so motivated to assist no matter what you needed. Please pass on our thanks to all staff who were working during our family emergency, we're eternally grateful and will definitely return in the future.

The dinner menu and service was over elaborate and pretentious. The staff were unfriendly and patronising. It felt more of a smug performance than provision of a well-cooked meal. We deliberately avoided the taster menu and chose a la carte but the stilted delivery by the automaton of a waitress was risible. We noticed other diners pulling faces at the waitress's delivery. We dine out regularly in a wide range of restaurants and by comparison this was disappointing, a waste of money and to be positively avoided. Some management attention is required.

Beautiful building in a fine location,. The building is well converted to a luxurious standard. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent, a wide selection freshly cooked.

No milk in room. On arrival I made a cup of tea and after making 2 calls to reception one of which wasn’t answered, I had to wait 45 mins for a small jug of milk to be delivered. I had to remake my tea. I then discovered there was no mini fridge to put the rest of the milk in for use the next morning. Daft when tea and coffee and a kettle were provided. It was irritating and a shame. Breakfast and the spa didn’t seem particularly special. I’ve stayed in many hotels and always wanted to stay in this one. I left feeling a little disappointed to be honest.

Drink portions were small. Tea with two biscuits and clotted cream, jam and butter was £26 with tip built in. That seemed high to me. The soaps are extraordinary- for guest use in room by Nobel. Daily newspaper was a big bonus. It rained each day I was there so didn’t tour gardens as I might have. Nice staff as well.

The stay started out on a bad foot but it was corrected immediately by the manager Clara once I told her about it. She was very helpful. The prices are really high but so is the creativity in cooking. I’d always get the cooked breakfast as the continental version was less than perfect and limited variety.

Contacting the front desk was difficult at times. The one night we ordered a cappuchino and coffee and waited for many minutes, only to have the drinks arrive luke-warm. The only negative, really.

The bar and restaurant were outstanding. The food was out of this world. The Spa was very good as well. Excellent service all round. The suite we stayed in was gorgeous, and we were unexpectedly upgraded which was a nice surprise.
