The pub overall was a little tired. It could have done with being ungraded.

Good location and very well situated. Very close to the main road and easy to get on and get away.

Door to family room had a broken hinge so made getting in and out of the room a bit difficult.

Very dog friendly. Grass beer garden at the side and near to some nice walks. They also did a complementary continental breakfast which was great for us as we had a long travel ahead.

It was a continental breakfast. We knew that when we booked. The barstaff/waitress was very good and hardworking. Location very good. We had food in the pub restaurant that was very nice. We would recommend this place

The door of One of our parties room was unable to close because of loose hinges and after reporting it we were told ( well it is a very old building) as if that made a difference .

Food wasn’t being served on a Monday but neighbouring pub was so that was not major issue. Breakfast was OK but more choice would have been good.

Good location and was ready even though I arrived a little early.

No mention of early check in fee on arrival/website until I received a call after checking out for my card details to charge £40. This came as a big surprise especially as the room was already £90 and I checked in because the room was ready. The village is difficult to access via public transport due to awkward bus times from Newbury - Book taxi's in advance. There's no ATM/shop in the village which is part of the charm so plan in advance.

Very quiet location. Staff I met were very friendly. Room was clean. Had a hairdryer, shampoo, clean towels etc.

We paid through Booking.com in advance for our party's stay, a total of £140. However, the landlord informed us at breakfast that this payment had not reached him and seemed distrustful of us. We took his word for it and paid up. When we returned home we checked our account and found that we had indeed already paid Booking.com. It took over two weeks, several phonecalls and emails, screenshots of bank statements etc., to persuade the Swan to refund the overpayment.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The self-service breakfast was very basic, but this was to be expected given the very reasonable room charge.

When booking the room we did not expect breakfast to be included and were positively surprised by the news that a continental breakfast would be served in the morning. In fact it was extremely poor with no fresh coffee or cheese, ham or boiled eggs.

Loved the way the staff treats the guests. Very friendly and helpful. Rooms are exceptionally clean. Food was absolutely delicious (we had dinner at the hotel restaurant). Great location for our purposes

A lot of things were a bit tired, like the loo was not fixed properly to the wall and the mechanism to open the bath plug had broken (tip: use a spoon). It was nice that they had a coffee machine in the breakfast room, but so strange that there were no instructions to go with it. The owners might assume that everyone knows how to use a pod machine, but there were four different guest groups there the morning I had breakfast, ranging in age from early 20s to late 60s, and none of us knew how to use it. The one staff member in the building also didn't know. We had to resort to looking it up on YouTube - not quite what you want to be doing first thing on a Sunday - before any coffee :) It would be so easy to add instructions, and would make a difference.

The place was easy to find, with ample parking. Nice spacious room with a pleasant appearance and clean sheets. The shower was hot and powerful.
