The central location has always been my main reason for staying at the Green Dragon and it has been a pleasant place to stay. This is my first visit in five years. The renovation has made it smarter and fresher looking but it has not changed the essentiail character of the hotel. Staff were pleasant and friendly- more so than in earlier years.

We arrived at exactly 18:00 on Friday evening, no available parking outside so stopped in the parking area opposite marked 'Loading / unloading'. checked in luggage and returned to the car to find a 'parking ticket' attached to the windscreen timed at 18:05. This is not a good way to encourage tourists to a town or city. Visitors beware!

Not connected to the hotel in any way - but do not visit the Golden River Chinese restaurant, it was worse than dreadful! I would guess it will be closed down soon as it does not have draught beer any more, or starters or sweets. Oh, and the food was awful.

Rooms dark and dingy and in need of some upgrading. Room we initially was next to a busy and noisy lift shaft. Replacement room had loose taps cracked window and was very dark.

Bedroom was dim not enough light, especially for the ladies applying make-up. The room was noisy at night, there was a generator/aircon/extractor fan running early hours of the morning which prevented us from sleeping. After returning on Friday night to the hotel (20+ people) were surprised to find the bar was to shut at 10.45, asked for the manager, he'd gone home! We eventually negotiated with the barman Ed to stay until 24.00 hours for £30 to pay for a taxi to get him home! Not impressed!

The staff in reception were clueless and made crucial errors. The shower was either cold or scalding and the breakfast was so so with undrinkable coffee.

Our room was comfortable but not a great view over the ventilation system at the back. A front bedroom over the high street might be nice. The taps were slow to produce water but this is a very old building so not unexpected. Difficult to get a cab during school run times.

Lovely location in the middle of Hereford, great for sightseeing and shopping, fairly quick walk to the station. Large comfortable reception areas, lift to all floors. Staff were really helpful. Good range of breakfast items but they should invest in better quality sausages!

Our room was so hot (we couldn’t work out where the heat was coming from but there seemed to be a droning noise coming from somewhere up until late night). Luckily there was a fan in the room. Awful sticky (unhygienic) carpet-like flooring in en suite.

Staff were lovely. Breakfast good and dinner fantastic, both in really nice dining room. Can’t beat the location for wandering around the city. Iron and ironing board in room was useful.

Lift was a bit rickety

Old fashioned feel but modern approach, better than that, the staff were polite, respectful, helpful. Food choice was good and breakfast excellent staff were attentive, available but not in your face

Being really fussy here as it was overall a good stay. The fans in the room were not properly cleaned and were very dusty. It was humid and no air con so having the fan on meant blowing dust everywhere.

Parking was on the street and pay and display, Fortunately, I arrived after 6pm on Friday and was out for the day on Saturday, so I didn't have to pay. Sunday was free! There was a carpark at the back of the hotel, which was reduced pay and display, but it was full when I arrived.

The central location was very convenient. Check-in was easy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I had a lovely meal in the restaurant the first evening, and a good breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Food was well cooked and plentiful, with a delightful shortbread dragon with my dessert! The room was clean and very comfortable and I was pleased to have a 'real key', as opposed to a key card so often found these days. There was a well stocked hospitality tray in the room and the ensuite bathroom was very clean. The hotel had a charming 'old fashioned' air, which was very refreshing.

Door lock and door itself tough to open as it’s expanded. Bath screen leaking and it’s all over the floor. Night light going directly to the room from 3rd to the 2nd floor.

The bar prices are a bit steep. I guess they factor in that business people are generally on expenses.

This is an old style hotel, a very grand building. The place has character for sure. I stayed over with some colleagues during a works conference. All very nice and easy going.
