Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe door didn’t have a lock and didn’t close properly. Not that I was worried about anything getting stolen because the place can only host a few guests. However, the grandad of the family woke me up in the middle of the night by opening my door, probably because he assumed the room was empty.
Outstanding food. Host organised a car back to Mestia for us the following day which saved the faff of having to deal with the Ushguli taxi mafia.

HungaryIt was the second time when we stayed at Mshvidoba, and everything was great. Although we were a big group (8 people) we fit in comfortably. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were very friendly, as last time.

Very warm and welcoming family, who offered us freshly baked cake and tea on arrival, stored our luggage and organized transfer back to Mestia. Room and bathroom were very clean/cleaned frequently, the shower was hot, the bed super comfy, and the food delicious. Madloba!

United StatesNot really a "didn't like" but rather advice for other travelers: they offer horse tours but do note you must pay for your own horse + the guides horse + guide fee. The sign in the guest house didn't make that clear, so we almost didn't have enough cash 😅. Also bring earplugs :)
Really historic stay here in Ushguli. The hosts and family are incredibly nice and we really felt at home. The food is also amazing here 😍. They can help you with everything. We enjoyed our stay.

NetherlandsThere were a couple of gigantic spiders and because the ceiling is so high, you can’t reach them. A bit scary to sleep knowing that one might crawl over you. But the room itself was very clean!
The hosts are extremely nice, polite and very helpful. My husband left a personal belonging and with only two days in Tbilisi, they figured a way to get it to us before we left. The homemade meals are absolutely delicious! It’s a home stay unlike the new properties coming up so very traditional!

ItalyThe second shared bathroom did not work properly. The first one, while very clean, was often busy. They do not speak English, and at times it can become difficult to communicate, but you always find a way in the end.
They are very welcoming, the house is very clean and Lela cooks delicious food. They can be very helpful in organising movements around Ushguli, not an easy task to do on your own.

This is a great place to stay in Zhibiani (the upper village). The location is fantastic and the welcome is amazing. The family is so friendly and the meals are delicious. Frequent offers of tea when you return after a wander are great. I have stayed here previously (twice) and returned because I loved it so much... Thanks David

United StatesThe owner was amazingly kind to our group--we rented out the full place (3 bedrooms, 2 people in each room) and she prepared us amazing food. Cake and tea when we arrived fresh from the trail, a fantastic dinner, and a lovely breakfast the next morning. She also helped arrange our car back to Mestia--so nice to not have to bargain with the drivers at the main square! When we checked on the price, it was better than what others had paid for the same ride. She was very kind and accommodating.

GermanyBy far the best accommodation we had in Georgia! Lela and her family are super welcoming and attentive. They can help with anything (if you're looking for a taxi, a horse ride or if you want to do your laundry). But what made our stay so special was definitely breakfast and dinner time. The food is delicious, fresh made and worth every Lari. Lela served us also great vegetarian options (sometimes the vegetarian menues get repetitive while traveling, not here!). And we enjoyed those great meals with some other guests who where also super nice! So if you are looking for a guesthouse with family atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms, great food and lovely hosts, you found it!

GermanyAwesome place in Ushguli! We came here for ski touring and always woke up really early, but that was no problem for our host and she kept surprising us with the wonderful breakfasts! Not the mention the delicious dinners! The check in was really flexible - we came one day late and that was no problem.

United StatesThe building was a bit older, however we would absolutely stay here again as it had much more character than some of the newer buildings outside of the old part of town. You do have to walk or ski 200 meters from the plowed road on a pathway to the guest house.
Mshvidoba was an incredible base camp for our ski touring trip in Ushguli. You could ski from the guest house for almost all of the best ski tours in the area. Easily on the short list of most scenic ski in ski out locations in the world. In winter 2024, dinner was 30 and breakfast was 25 gel per person. Tons of homemade food. Several hungry skiers could never finish it all. Vegetarian options were possible if requested. It was surrounded by Svan towers too.

United KingdomBest food we had the whole time we were in Svaneti. We were the only people eating dinner that night and there were loads of tasty dishes for us. The host was very nice and although she spoke only a little English she tried to help us with Google translate and her children spoke English. She also helped us organise a taxi back to Mestia. And the Wi-Fi actually worked well!

SlovakiaI travel a lot, staying in guesthouses or apartments, but I have never ever stayed at the place like this. Absolutely amazing...You do not feel like guest, you feel like member of their big family. If I could put 20 points I will do it. 10 is not enough. Perfectly cleaned, food was delicious, we took breakfast and dinner for 20€/ day....absolutely worth it....varieties of meals impossible to eat so huge ammount. Always fresh. Warm family athmosphere. You can order transfer from Mestia or to Shkhara glacier, also horse riding. We have found new friends there and really hope to come back again.

United StatesThe village of Ushguli is a very special place, we recommend staying there at least one night. Mshvidoba guest house is in the middle of town, making you feel like part of the place for a little bit. Host speaks little English, but she is very very nice (we loved her) and will do everything possible to make you feel comfortable. The kids speak English if needed. The bathroom is shared, but we never had to wait to use it. Room is comfortable. We had dinner there one night. Food was good, but it did not seem enough for two people after a whole day of hiking, so we needed to ask for something else, which they provided with no problem. Host can also provide a ride back to Mestia
