Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaThere is no lift in which is problematic if you have problems climbing. The room had a bubble bath, but it was out of order. The authenticity of the area means also that it might not be for everyone's taste
Very friendly, nice and helpful staff. Very clean and recently refurbished rooms. The hotel is easily accessible by metro, but also in walking distance from the centre (about 30 min). The district is off the tourist tracks which means a possibility to see a more authentic life

Australiano lift might be a problem for some.
This is a small family run hotel in a quiet street. This is not a new building but the rooms are modern, have everything and are well kept. The owners are fantastic. Good location 20 minutes walk to the centre of town. Buses and trains 5 minutes away, Plenty of food and supermarkets nearby.

UkraineThe streets around were quite dirty, people sleeping on the street all around. Probably, not the safest district in Athens. It was a bit of cigarettes smell in the room when I checked in, but disappeared after I closed the window.
Very close to metro. Easy to find. Good price.

New ZealandThe fridge wasn’t turned on when we arrived, but the owners were happy to store our chilled food in the fridge at reception. We also had to hand in our key every time we left the building which was something we weren’t used to doing.
Our last booking at another accomodation fell though at the last minute, but Brazil Hotel were able to accomodate to our needs and we had a smooth check in process with the most outstanding service. The hotel was located just a short walk from the Metro and the owners were more than happy to store our luggage after we checked out so we could explore the city.

The hostel is very close to the metro station which is a good position in such a crowded city. The area is not too clean and crowded, but apparently, safe. The staff of the hotel was kind and amazing, really nice people, helped with local tips and ideas too.

United StatesThe blanket sheets were in a literal pile by the bed (photo), wasn’t sure if they were even washed, as they seemed slightly moist with couple dirty spots and a couple holes in it. Also found a definitely used towel in the closet. The AC was inconsistent - barely cooled for the first 1-2 hours and then got super cold at night.
Nice, sparking clean bathroom, there was an AC, 24/7 available front desk.

UkraineThere's a mini bar inside the desktop and I'm not sure if it works properly. I left a bottle of water inside for a night, switched it on and the light turned on, but the next day the bottle wasn't cool. The mini bar itself looks kind of old and it looked more like a fancy gismo instead of an actual appliance. Anti-mosquito nets are probably the biggest problem of a lot of hotels, even the most expensive ones. This hotel should consider putting such nets on the windows because not everyone enjoys mosquitos, flies or other insects flying around the whole night. I would've recommended the hotel to offer anti-mosquito fumigation plugs. AC is good but when I put warmer temperature there was a bit weird smell (the smell didn't indicate that there's something wrong with the AC). There was only one pillow on the large bed and the pillow was very firm so I wouldn't say that the sleep was very comfortable. The hotel didn't have an open-air space like loggia on the top floor where you can smoke and there was no trash bin besides the entrance so if you want to smoke outside at night you'll have to put out the cigarettes against the ground and throw it into the big trash container which is 30 metres away from the hotel, and the neighbourhood is a bit weird, and it gets even weirder at night. Also every time I was coming out to smoke or to the shop on the other side of the lane, I had to leave my key at the reception table, even if I was about to come back in two minutes. I think it's inconvenient.
Nice interior of the rooms and halls on every floor. Nice bathroom with spacy shower cabin. The room was clean when I arrived. The staff is awesome and very friendly. I had a very warming welcoming in the hotel. Even though the locks on the doors are quite unusual, I have never seen anything like that, but there's something interesting and even convenient in it. First I got confused about them and I didn't know how to lock the door but the staff was here to help me and they explained everything so there was no problem afterwards. The hotel is close to metro station and there are shops, a supermarket, a cafe and a restaurant nearby. Despite my room was very small, the bed was large and comfortable
