Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Ireland1. facilities very old and needs some investment / maintenance eg. lift broke down many times through the stay, showers were cold most of the time, fridge broke down, sunbeds outside only 2 for use while another 5-6 there all cracked/ broken. 2. the breakfast was very poor, cold pancakes, over cooked eggs, cold sausages, cheese cut into big sticks. deli ham, the same every day with small options and infrequent delivery of food. breakfast was supposed to be 8am to 10am but if you came after 9:30 the options were even less and the staff were not willing to prepare anything fresh at that time. Hotel Ivan really needs to improve the breakfast offering and staff should get some training and see what the expected standards are in a hotel in 2022! ate there some days as had paid but a number of days had to go out for breakfast. 3. staff have poor English and while nice people were not very helpful if any requests. 4. got a laundry completed - some kids t shirts and shorts ( maybe 10 items) and to my great surprise when I went to pay the bill I was charged almost €100 which the receptionist requested in cash only! this was at least double / treble charged for this service!! 5. the owner seemed like a very bizarre individual and not someone very trustworthy. I had a situation where I left my passports upon arrival then I cleared by bill after a few days. the receptionist said the owner had my passports. I went back 1-2 days later and he seemed somewhat perturbed to give me back my passports. he then started giving out to the receptionist and they both had a big argument whilst I awaited my passports after she showed I had paid. he then proceeded to go and get my passports and gave them back with an unhappy face. it was bizarre! he seems to be a complete micromanager of his staff, I would think the staff and as a result the service is badly affected. again the staff were doing their best! 6.
1. location - super close to centre 2. family room was adequate , good size. 3. pool was very nice and enjoyable for the kids 4. nice view including a balcony. 5. Mr Bacula was nice as well as the staff who were helpful. unfortunately Mr Bacula left in the middle of our stay for some reason.

JapanRooms haven't been upgraded for at least 20 years, beds, mattresses, pillows, towels, kitchen, carpet, everything is lower quality than it should be for something called a "Hotel", especially because the price is so high. The high price is fine if the quality matches it but here that wasn't the case.
It's a very nice hotel when viewed from the outside, amazing staff, everybody was very friendly. The receptionist gave us a map of the city and recommended few things, we had an amazing time on Bol because of this information she gave us the best beaches and the best restaurants. My friends were very pleased with the breakfast quality.

United KingdomIt's more expensive to book this hotel on booking.com than the rates published at the reception desk, so I feel pretty ripped off to be honest. When I booked on booking.com I was given a price of EUR629.00 for the 3 night stay which is expensive, but compared well with other properties with the same star rating in the area. When I arrived I was advised that we needed to pay EUR631.00 which was fine, at this point we were shown to a dark, dingy room with a poor quality sofa bed on the floor. On the reception desk was a sign with the current pricing, according to this the price for the room I received Double + sofa should be EUR120.00/night and I could have had a triple room with sea view (and presumably balcony) for EUR180.00/night. The welcome was poor. When I arrived, after hunting around for the car park and needing some help (do not under any circumstances try to drive down the street to the front of the hotel) there were several people sat in the pool area with drinks etc. I waited at reception for 10 minutes, with no-one there - rang the bell/ tried the phone number etc etc with no response. I eventually went to ask the people around the pool if they knew how I could find the receptionist, only for a lady to get up, tell me off for not coming out to ask for her - as though I would know that she wasn't a guest, and proceed to be as unhelpful as she could possibly be...... The pool was dirty - cloudy water. There was no hot water for the shower - on the first night I told the staff about this. On the second night I asked if it was solved, only to get a snotty 'I've told my boss' with no resolution. The situation did not improve. The star rating of this hotel is not current. I'd give it 2 stars at the most. There is no service/ no bar or food, and the spa advertised on Booking.com is not in operation, and doesn't seem to have been for many years based on the condition of the sign in the pool area.
Around 5-10 mins walk from the Marina on a quiet street, the location was good. This is the only good thing that can be said about this hotel, Although it did look like there were nicer room than the one we stayed in so maybe there is some potential, and on the day we checked out the pool was being cleaned. It didn't appear that anyone else was staying there whilst we were there so maybe they were preparing for some new guests.

United KingdomEverything. The accommodation I booked was expensive, but I was not allocated what I booked and paid for. I had booked and paid for an apartment with a bedroom (5 beds) and a living room (sofa bed) and a kitchenette - a 2 room apartment at a size of 68m2. I was given a single room with 4 beds and a sofa bed that was totally unsuitable for my family. Although the room had a kitchenette it had no cutlery, crockery or glasses and the fridge didn't work. Attempts to sort this out were met with aggression and threats. The owner was abusive and threatened to lock us out or call the police each time a question or issue was raised. I needed to seek police involvement to get passports back from him. An unagreed amount was taken by the hotel from my account with no authorisation, consent, invoice or receipt after I had paid in full for a room I did not receive. The hotel was dirty - my room was not cleaned once during my 7 night stay - the sink in the bathroom was wiped once after I raised it as an issue. Linen was not changed. Beds were not made. The balcony was filthy. Breakfast was sloppy, poorly cooked and badly presented with limited choice, poor ingredients and repeated daily with no change. It was a disgusting place to stay where I, my elderly mother and my children were insulted, abused, threatened and intimidated on a daily basis. Avoid this place at all costs. My holiday was ruined.

GermanyThe breakfast was abundant in quantity, but for 5 days we ate the same thing, no change in products. 5 days the same bread, the same cheese, the same sausage, the same yogur.
The staff and the manager are like a family, the manager walks by every morning during breakfast and greets the guests. Those who want to grill there is a large facility outside by the pool, just ask and let them know. For me, the smile and desire to help with any problem was more important than many less important things, because that's what makes the difference Close to everywhere, the sea to restaurants to the ferry

NetherlandsIn general the whole place feels outdated and lacks proper maintenance. I’m sure half of the furniture predates my age. The bathroom was just outright terrible. It was tiny and cramped. You had to sit sideways on the toilet as there was not enough space in front of it. The shower was so small you could not lean forwards. The shower mount on the wall was broken when we came (and fixed it myself as it was showering only the wall) and the showerhead was mounted in an absurd position; the shower spray forward and by putting yourself against the door you could catch the water dropping down. Moreover, the showerdoor was broken (it was stuck and could only open half) and the showerhose was leaking half the water out. Next, the breakfast was just the bare minimum (not even basic). When we arrived at 8.30 (breakfast was till 10) and almost all food was already gone. On a irregular basis some extra food was prepared. Strikingly, there was no juice of something that resembled thing it. Though we received orange lemonade… the coffee was drenched with coffee ground and a thick layer was at the bottom of my mug. In addition, weirdly enough they sliced the cheese in thick sticks instead of something you could put on bread.. Regarding the service. The place wasn’t very clean. When wanted to use a glass, we found out all glasses were dirty. Every time time you go out the ask you to leave the key at the reception. I think they assume this is good service, but in my opinion it is a redundant thing to do. Moreover, when we wanted to go out to find (a normal) breakfast the second day this resulted in miscommunication. At the end if the stay the personal did not even bother to ask how our stay was. In conclusion; definitely not worth staying, poor experience, and extremely overpriced…
The location was good. A bit outside the city center, but under 5 minutes walking. Most personal was friendly and tried to fix our complaints asap (though only half of the problems were fixed). Also the room was quite large (except for the bathroom which was tiny and cramped)

Breakfast was maybe OK in the year 1995, but not in the year 2021. If there is no other option how to get accomodation in Bol, than you go there, but be prepared for it.

NetherlandsIt was all very very basic. Rooms very basic and breakfast as well. We knew we had to change rooms during our stay and that was okay. What wasn't okay was that the hotel staff put out luggage just in front of the room instead of putting it in our new room behind a kockeudoor as per agreement. We found out stuff after a day just in the hall before our "old" room. Unattended and free to grab for everyone. That was very disappointing. The bathroom was very basic, at the real minimum as were both rooms. Breakfast was okay, but also very very basic. Basic is also okay, but for the price we paid we expected a bit more comfort than this

United KingdomThe estate overall is in very poor condition. It took a long time for hot water to come through which means most guests probably waste a lot of water unnecessarily, I opted for showering with cold water. Shower doors didn’t work properly and overall facilities are poorly maintained as it shows. This was shocking to me given the hotel potential due to location.
Location and staff are 5 stars. Marija was super helpful as was everyone else.
