How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Wonderful staff and a great spot to stay for a night if you are visiting Borobudur. The staff organized a driver to take us at 4:30 AM to Punthuk Setumbu to watch the sunrise (lower your expectations – it’s not that impressive). We also used that time to visit the ‘Chicken Church’ (which is actually a pigeon), and afterward, we had an Indonesian breakfast. From there, we walked for about 10 minutes to reach Borobudur’s gate, where we bought the 8:30 AM climbing ticket, which I strongly recommend due to the heat.

Very clean, AC, comfy beds, close to the temple. It is a fair price for simple room in great condition. extraordinary friendly and helpful hosts! I can only recommend this place and I would be happy to stay there any time again. Thank you so much!

Absolutely beautiful Homestay! The room was one of the best we’ve stayed in during our 6 months in Asia, beautiful decor, comfortable bed, good air conditioning, and very quiet! Breakfast caters for western and Indonesian food and we asked for vegetarian Indonesian food and it was delicious! Very close - just ten minutes walking to the entrance of Borubudur and also lots of restaurants and shops. The owner will arrange transport to various view points for sunrise or anything else you want for a reasonable price. We really loved this place - thank you for a wonderful stay!

Little bit running water in the bathroom but it was manageable.
Lovely tenants, who helped us to get a guided tour (in French!) in the early morning since we did not get stupa entrance tickets to Borobudur. Very pleasant family room, and wonderful local breakfast 🍜 I definitely recommend this place

A beautifully kept properly with very clean and comfortable rooms within walking distance to Borobudur Temple. The host are very kind and helpful in helping me get tickets to Borobudur despite it being sold out online.

The soap dispenser in the bathroom didn't work. I appreciated that a soap dispenser was even provided, but it would have been much better if it did work.
- Location was great. It is a 15-min walk to Borobudur main entrance, and also a 15-min walk from where the DAMRI bus from Yogyakarta drops you off. - The home, the room, and the bathroom were exceedingly clean. Easily one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed in. - The breakfast provided was fried rice and egg. It was freshly prepared and delicious.

Yusuf was a fantastic host who helped us a lot with tickets for Borobodur temple, bikes to explore the surroundings, transfer to and from Borobodur and he even took us for sunrise view. All for a very good price.

It was a true pleasure to stay at Maher House. - Yusuf and his family are very kind and welcoming. - the house is a 10 minute walk from the gates of Borobudur temple. It’s also a short cycle/scooter journey to the other temples and chicken church. - the Indonesian breakfast is delicious and very generous portions! - there is a drinking water refill machine and complimentary tea/coffee which is great. - Yusuf also offers a very convenient pick-up/drop off driving service if needed. - the house and rooms are exceptionally clean and very comfortable. - the rooms are very spacious and offer all the amenities you would need for a few nights in town. - very good laundry service just across the street. This was one of the most comfortable guesthouses we’ve stayed in whilst travelling in South East Asia. We’re so glad we chose to stay here and visit the sites locally rather than travel from Yogyakarta on a day trip!

Annoying neighbours whose family kids woke up 5 o'clock in the morning and yelling and playing for 5 hours to am 10. No regulations and apologies from parents,although they looks friendly and honest.
Super clean! Very suitable for those germphobia geeks lol. Super comfortable. Landlord lady really nice and many friendly locals here. Nice breakfast and coffee. Highly recommended.

The hot water for the shower was intermittent. Our room was facing the street, so street noise was heard during the day. It was quiet at night, until the call to prayer.
We were there for 3 nights and each morning had a different local breakfast and large plate of papaya. The hosts were very helpful. The location was very close to Borobudur entrance and the Saturday night cultural street fare.

Had a pleasant stay at Maher house, real close to Borobudur city but in quet area. Staff is very friendly and will cook breakfast or dinner for you.

Yusuf and his wife looked after us so well. When we called Yusuf was kind enough to pick us up from the airport and the next day we had a tour in temples and shopping done . We had a good breakfast at the hotel . He also dropped us back at the airport. Our trip was very comfortable

Comfortable room, breakfast included, very close to Borobudur temple, 10 minutes walking distance. Stuff helpfull, the owner was our taxi to Yogyakarta because there was no free driver from the app

The house is beautiful. The family is super kind and helpful and the rooms are spacious, cozy and clean. The facilities are great, there is an AC, there is a water dispenser and the breakfast is amazing. The location is also amazing, you are close to the temple, various nice restaurants and across the street is an amazing laundry service.

Sweet family run guesthouse. Beautiful home, spacious and comfortable room, great location for visiting Borobudur, yummy breakfast. I recommend staying more than 1 night to enjoy this beautiful town!
