How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing everything was perfect. You will have to have a car to get there but it’s worthwhile and a good start for the cliffs and the Aran islands
Nice and calm place in a big house. The dog coco is super chill and friendly. Clean and comfortable beds. Nice decoration. There is a pub about 1km away that serves food and has cool music groups

Double room, bed was up against the wall which wasn’t idea for my older parent. But very comfy room, they enjoyed their stay.
Lovely clean comfortable room, Nice outdoor area, in a very quiet secluded place.

We really enjoyed the stay at Barrymor. Check-in unforgettable with the welcome by Coco (the lovely dog). The stay was very relaxing.

There was nothing to dislike.
We liked everything. The host was exceptional, very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. The hosts’ directions to the property were easy to follow and the property was in a fantastic location. The little touches made a huge difference for example tea and coffee making facilities, the single serve biscuits and a large bottle of water. It was all we wanted to experience of Ireland.

Door is a little weird to get in but host has plenty of instructions, wasn't quite as clean as expected but wasn't terrible (food area was a bit dirty and there was a lingering smell no matter how much I opened the windows)
Very peaceful location with cows right next to the house, comfortable in every way, plenty of space for 1-2 people, electric kettle, wonderful rain shower, host was very nice (especially when I accidentally took the wrong keys oops!), plenty of parking, lovely dog to greet you, about 30 minutes from Doolin (it's a bit of a windy drive though)

I would like to have had a TV in my room to watch the news etc. but I can understand that it can create noise and disturb other guests.
Very peaceful location and I got a great night’s sleep as I was travelling on work. Excellent shower and my room was spotless and very comfortable.

Barrymor is a lovely home watched over by a sweet dog named CoCo. Our room was clean, coffee/tea was provided in the room, extra towels were delivered upon request. The view out of our room was lovely.

This home works best for those who have a car. I did know this in advance so I was prepared to walk on a somewhat busy road to get to town for food and activities. Sharing this so others are aware in advance, too!
The room was sparkling clean, and the mattress was very comfortable. Helen, the owner, is very kind and welcoming if you have the chance to meet her.

A little too far to walk to restaurants, but not a big deal.
Clean, comfortable, and the caretaker Mary was lovely. Very peaceful! Highly recommend.

No soap or shampoo holder in shower. A bit secluded & far from anything like shops or restaurants. Self check in.

Only that Helen didn't have availability the second night! Barrymor provides perfect--and reasonable--accommodation with a lovely hostess.
Our room was self-catered. We had plenty of amenities to make coffee/tea or heat our rolls in the microwave, but we went into the nearby town to people watch while we ate breakfast. Barrymor's location is perfect--down the end of a lane just a stone's through from the town center. Being at the end of the lane, we were immersed in nature . . . I heard the cuckoo in the morning! Quiet, quiet . . . pretty . . . and our hostess Helen seemed like family right off. So much so that we went back the following night even though we didn't have reservations!

Lovely location and great communication with Helen. She even organised a table for me in Monk's at the Pier despite the restaurant telling me they were fully booked. Thank you, Helen!
