How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

As an older building, the plumbing and the floors can be a bit creaky. Adds to the charm, really, but worth bringing ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.
The breakfasts were excellent! And the rooms were clean, well appointed, and quite lovely. We really enjoyed our stay, and would happily stay again.

No issues.
Great location, helpful staff, loved the older historic quality of the hotel, and great breakfast!! We had been there before, and so returned for our 3rd time. Because it is an older building where certian accomodations must be made to preserve the historic aspects, one has to realize that the elevator is small and bathroom may not be large, but all up to high standards regardless.

Staff, location excellent for walking city center. Breakfast was great , and rooms were spacious and comfortable, with shower not over a tub available as we had requested. The hotel is in an old building that has high ceilings with the large beams, so the facilities are arranged to preserve all these historic features. Thus, it is like staying in an old castle of sorts, with added modern wifi and other expected facilities. We had stayed here before and so we were pleased to be there again. We also liked their two small lobbies where could sit and relax and chat quietly with our friends.

Our room overlooked the square so it was a bit noisy at night with groups of people & the street cleaners, and the church bells rang at 7am to wake us up - but it didn’t ruin the trip
The room was clean & spacious, decorated nicely with high ceilings, great location really close to the Duomo & Galleria dell’Academia, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely - pastries, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, eggs.. we enjoyed our stay

We loved the facility, a very romantic tower in Orvieto, although people who cannot walk up stairs would find it difficult. However we loved the adventure and beautiful accommodations.

The square was very noisy at times

There's nothing to contain the water when you shower so the whole bathroom gets wet.

the room was not exactly like the photos but the common areas are representative of the photos
very nice hotel decorated with traditional elements in a central location. outside the hotel there is a square that gathers in the evening new people who sit around it on the existing steps. the hotel staff was polite and willing to help you with anything you need. the breakfast had the basics of a european breakfast mainly french breakfast and german breakfast. there was daily housekeeping in the room and basic welcome items such as tea and coffee and a kettle.

Noisy room as our room overlooked a busy student piazza. Breakfast was basic , buffet food wasn’t replenished quickly enough and restaurant crowded (no tables) at peak times .

The modern bathroom had an old style bidet.
The location is perfect, right in the heart of town. The room was very nice, with a beautiful barrel ceiling. The breakfast was good and rich.

All the comforts of home. What is not to like? It was great. Shower was a bit of a challenge. But that is expected in a renovated monastery.
Very clean and comfortable. Best to stay not in the annex in the main location whose entrance is on the palazzo.
