How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Smell outside the rooms. Receptionist aggressively arguing about getting bikes in the room (nowhere was stated that clean bikes could not be in the rooms). Buffet breakfast was poor.
Clean and comfortable room. Beds are good and bathroom is very good. Staff mostly friendly.

The bed was amongst the worst I have ever slept in. No staff available after 4pm and no notice of that fact. No advance notification that we needed to transmit documents to the hotel. On arrival, 5 sets of keys in envelopes at reception desk. Not very secure.
Breakfast was OK. The croissants were not excellent. Pretty standard prima colazione that is found in 2-3 star places.

When we arrived there was not warm water for shower and heating system. The stove was broken, which can happened. But on the top of this, happened that somebody of the service just got into our room without asking or giving notice just because she mistaken our room with another one. All things that can happen but overall make a stay not really confortable.
The location is really perfect. Is close to Siena and at the same time in a quite place in the green. The building is old and quite impressive (in a positive way). Breakfast is good.

The room is too small. BUT. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH A PET, YOU SHOULD PAY 10€ for every night. And they say you it IN THE END. What have the pet for 10€? NOTHING AT ALL. No bawl, no bed. So for what I have paid and the worst mood In my vacation? By the way, they have NO noise isolation. So you will hear every step and of course you won’t sleep. + if you are vegan, you won’t find anything for breakfast.
It is clean.

The Villa Montarioso is a beautiful place to stay in Tuscany. The reception is super nice, very helpful, and always smile. The breakfast, even with the covid restrictions, was very good, wide range of food and fresh cakes and the lady there is also very friendly. The coffee was tasty and you can have a view from the restaurant. We parked our car outside, as it was very safe and comfortable, it has a lot of space. To reach the hotel, I would definitely recommend to use the car. The Villa has a small garden, we liked just sitting outside and view the landscape. All attractions are about 1 hour to the Villa. The room was very quiet, we could leave the windows open for the night. The room has full equipment, the bed was comfortable.

Nice hotel in quiet location close to Siena. New, comfortable and clean room and bathroom. Tasty breakfast with lot of variety. Plenty of private parking spaces.

Great place to visit Tuscany. Close to cities like Siena or Florence. Parking in front of the hotel. Italian-style breakfast is served by good and friendly staff. The accommodation is located in a quiet environment. I also recommend a visit to Castellina in Chianti village.

If you don’t have a car, then I think you should reconsider your stay, because the road to walk to Siena from the Villa is really bad and it took us about 30 minutes to reach the central train station by foot.
The villa was very nice, everything was clean, well taken care of, there is a parking for cars. The breakfast was also nice. The surrounding area was quiet, so we had no trouble sleeping.
