WORST HOTEL to STAY in SAKAE
    • Leisure trip

Out of the 14 floors, there was only ONE available washer as the other washer next to it was OUT OF ORDER. Either a staff member of APA Hotel or another hotel guest, also managed to touch my parka while it was in the process of being washed leaving ink or grease fingerprints inside of the jacket damaging it. The staff denied any wrong doing or damage to my parka and was not compensated for the damages, despite washing it twice. The bathroom upon entering our room SMELLED LIKE URINE the entire FOUR nights we stayed at this location. They never managed to fix the other out of order washer the FOUR NIGHTS I was there. The communication with the Hotel staff was absolutely horrendous and no seemed like they took any pride in their work. This is by far the WORST HOTEL that I have EVER STAYED in JAPAN.

The only positive things about this APA Hotel, was the TV and the USB-C and USB-A ports next to the bed and plenty of outlets.

The room was big, in a great location (1 minute on foot) and there were family mart, 7 eleven and Lawson also very very close to the hotel. the room was very clean. The best hotel I've been in Japan so far.

    Well located
    • Leisure trip

The double room had a small double bed and you could only access it on one side, it also sloped down so we had the sensation that we were going to fall out constantly. A shame considering the twin was nice and comfy. The hotel operates a "no clean" policy, which basically means minimum service unless you request it (which is absolutely fine) however there were plastic bags on hooks outside the room with clean towels and when the rooms were being cleaned it looked like they decided to get all the rubbish and dirty linen out of the room into the corridor all at the same time per floor, so it looked a little bit like a garbage run, again a bit of a shame and this could be easily rectified in a small change in ways of working.

Great location and easy to get to the metro/bus. We had a twin and a double room, the twin room was as we expected, very nice. However the double room had a small double bed and you could only access it on one side, it also sloped down so we had the sensation that we were going to fall out constantly. A shame considering the twin was nice and comfy

The room service at this hotel was truly terrifying. I forgot to lock the door, and while I was sleeping, someone came straight in without knocking—it gave me a huge scare! I can only feel relieved that I wasn’t changing clothes or something at the time. Since I’m a foreigner, my Japanese isn’t perfect, but I told the cleaning staff in Japanese to please come a bit later. She became very angry and slammed the door while saying “わかない” (I suppose she meant she didn’t understand). I’ve never encountered someone so rude! Later, when I was using the bathroom, another staff member (probably from the front desk) knocked. I told them to please wait outside, but they still opened the door and walked in without my permission. This is absolutely unacceptable—there is no sense of privacy at all in this hotel!

    None really

The location is within the business district but just a 10 mins away from the Hisaya Odori station which is 3 stations or 15mins away to Nagoya Station. It is also 15 mins walk to the Chubu Electrical Tower or Mirae Tower, very near Oasis 21 as well. There are 2 nearby convenience stores, 711, Lawson and Family Mart, near Starbucks and the Komeda Cafe. I also am very happy with the way the staff assisted us and some of them can speak English. There is one lady which I missed to ask for her name who is very friendly and warm. The best part of the stay is the amenity Onsen or Japan hot bath which is included in the accomodation. At the end of a tiring day, this relaxes your body. Overall, I would book them again when I come back to Nagoya.

The heater was controlled centrally and you could not change it. It was boiling hot in our room at all times. It was so uncomfortable. We were sweating from the heat and had to open the window sometimes. My 1 year old could not sleep in the heat despite just being in a nappy. You would be sweating in the room and then go out to below 10 degrees outside, I don’t think this was good for our health either. The hotel does not have a lounge space with tables or couches. You would think with the worlds tiniest rooms they would have more amenities

The staff were very nice and helpful. Probably the only nice thing about this place.

Location is fairly close to subway stations and just a few steps away from the bus stop. Room space is good for a solo traveler, but for 2 people, it could be a bit of a stretch. It is also nice that the hotel offers a microwave free for use.
