Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only thing was not having much natural daylight in the room. I wasn’t there much during the day, but with frosted windows and the paper shades, I needed to use the lighting in the room.
This place is stunning! A very modern but traditional hotel with large comfortable rooms, amazing facilities and very kind and caring staff. The onsen bathing area was super clean and modern. Very useful for resting aching limbs after days out walking.

My recent stay at Waqoo Naritasan Monzen exceeded every expectation and quickly became the most memorable stop of our entire trip. Below is a detailed, candid assessment for future travelers. 1. Location Nestled halfway along Naritasan Omotesando, the hotel is a leisurely five-minute walk from both JR Narita Station / Keisei Narita Station on one end and Naritasan Shinshō-ji Temple with its landscaped park on the other. Whether you are strolling out at dawn for street-food snacks, visiting the temple precincts, or catching a same-day flight from Narita Airport, logistics are effortless. Clear signposting and a flat approach make rolling luggage to the lobby stress-free. 2. Onsen (Hot-Spring Bath) Water Quality & Cleanliness — The indoor bath is crystal-clear, odor-free, and immaculately maintained; staff wipe down wet areas and test the water several times a day. Privacy — We visited on weekday nights and found ourselves alone on almost every occasion. The experience felt like reserving an exclusive private bath without the surcharge. First-Timer Friendly — As my very first genuine onsen experience, I had no benchmark—but the thoughtful layout, perfect temperature, and post-bath relaxation left me convinced that hot-spring bathing will become a staple of future Japan trips. 3. Guest Rooms Space — Unusually generous by Japanese standards. A standard room comfortably housed three adults, two open suitcases, and still offered ample free floor space. Spotless Housekeeping — Beds, tatami mat edges, and furniture surfaces were dust-free; drawers and hangers were plentiful for multi-night stays. Comfort & Ambience — Excellent sound insulation, responsive climate controls, and a calm décor of light wood and washi accents created a subtle, almost meditative atmosphere. 4. Service and Value Front-desk staff handled check-in in flawless English, arranged stroller storage, and volunteered local dining tips.

AustraliaWe loved our stay at this facility. We were treated with a welcome tea and sweet, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable, spacious and the beds were lovely. We were pleasantly surprised at how big the room was. The stay was close to shops and the Temple, which was great, as we were only staying for one night and had so much to do. We will definitely stay again. Thank you Waqoonaritasanmonzen, you made our last day in Japan memorable.

New ZealandWe stayed here on our last 2 nights in Japan to be close to the airport for our departure. Fabulous service and lovely spacious room.. Beds were very comfortable and enjoyed the complimentary sake in our room. The location is fabulous, in the historical area of Naritasan. We will stay again on our next visit to Japan.

United StatesThe position of our room was such that there was very little natural sunlight. Although the screens could be opened the frosted glass windows could not be opened and offered minimal sunlight.
The hotel is conveniently located, right in the middle of the city. Beautiful kabuki artwork throughout. The room was very clean.

United StatesAbsolutely nothing negative about this property.
Absolutely loved the entire property and the traditional breakfast that was served. We were only there for one night, but I really wish we had stayed at least one more night to fully appreciate and explore the area. The staff were super friendly and even ran out into the rain to hold an umbrella over us when they noticed we were about to get in an uber.

AustraliaNothing. I booked in a rush and did not know that to secure a dinner reservation, you needed 3 days' notice. That was my oversight, though not the hotel.
I booked this hotel for easy access to Narito Airport. It turned out that the 2 days and 1 night in this hotel and the neighbourhood is the highlight of our Japan trip. It is in the middle of winding streets filled with traditional Japanese shops and is next door to the Buddhist Temple with the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. In addition, the hotel is 5 star, in every way. It has the most exquisite baths (onsen), and every detail has been considered to the utmost.

AustraliaA great little hotel within striking distance of Narita airport (20 mins by taxi). The town of Narita itself is beautiful and full of great architecture and temples. We were surprised on our arrival at how pretty and nice it was. Definitely try and get there early in the afternoon if you are flying out the next morning, so you can walk the town and explore the many eating options.

AustraliaBroken glass shards found in the 'clean' room bathroom. Staff came up and removed the glass, but we found more later and just put a towel on that part of the floor for safety.
Authentic Japanese breakfast with so much to eat I was bursting. The effort put into the food was impressive. The private and separate male and female Onsens were so relaxing. Reasonable walk from the local Narita station and quiet location.

United StatesWe really enjoyed our one night here. Unfortunately we arrived after 5:00 pm and had to be at the airport by 8:00 am, so we were not able to enjoy much that this town had to offer. However, the staff of the hotel were wonderful and the facilities were superb. I am also glad we decided to pay for the very expensive, but unique and absolutely beautiful Kaiseki dinner. I am definitely going to recommend this inn to my friends who are willing and able to pay a premium price for luxury.

United StatesThe dining times for breakfast and dinner could be more flexible.
I loved the traditional Japanese room design with modern amenities. Staff were very helpful and professional. Location was perfect, near the temple. Not too long a taxi ride from Narita Airport. You really get immersed in Japanese culture here, and I would recommend everyone start their trip in this area before travelling to Tokyo. I travelled all over Japan and Naritas temple was one of the best ones I visited, only second to the one in Nara.

I chose this hotel so that I would be close to the Narita airport for my flight. One of the most beautiful temples is nearby and their gardens were exquisite. The staff was so helpful. I received a full Japanese breakfast. They also have a small onsen that I enjoyed, followed with Acupuncture and Massage in my room.

This hotel was excellent. It is very close to airport, 20 min by taxi, 2 stops on metro. It has a traditional Japanese feel and the staff is wonderful. Also, it’s located in a charming traditional town. If you are there on weekend, they close down the street for the community to walk. It’s lovely.
