Breakfast was quite simple, a bit more options of ocidental food would leverage the overall experience at the Hotel.

Well located hotel in the heart of Kyoto, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and easy access to public transportation. The room itself is quite cozy, each corner designed to provide comfort and peace of mind, it was also very quiet allowing a perfect night sleep.

My room was quite large for Japan. However the designed could have been improved for comfort, allowing a desk and a chair for example

The hotel and the room were clean and quiet, the view quite open from my bedroom window. What drove me to write this review is more the amount of attention that was brought to make some spaces extremely beautiful: entry hall, salon, ... There was a very peaceful touch of wabi sabi in a lot of spots.

The bed was pretty hard (as it was in all places we stayed in Japan, so I doubt you'd find anything different).

This was a great place to stay. In a bustling area that was relatively close to transit and popular sites. The room was great as well and well maintained. Enough space for two people and our luggage. They had lots of thoughtful amenities as well, anti-fog mirror, two pillows per person, handheld mirror in the room, and extra hooks. The breakfast was great too, good mix of Japanese and Western. The view from the room was lovely too (historical looking building and a graveyard).

None I could think of. Oh wait. the noise of the cars or motorcycles outside the hotel. Younger crowd partying.

I love the location and service of this hotel. The Breakfast was great! I love the presentation, the service and selection. Simple yet satisfying. The location of the hotel is very convenient to shopping and a lot of activities around the area.

We stayed at Hotel Musse Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Meitetsu as a couple from April 18 to April 20, 2025, and absolutely loved the location. The hotel is right in the heart of Kyoto, with shopping streets, the Gion district, and multiple convenience stores all within a 5-minute walk, it truly couldn’t be more convenient. The room and overall stay met all our expectations. However, the only area that could use improvement is the breakfast. We tried it on the first day but decided to skip it the next morning, as it didn’t quite match the quality of the rest of the hotel experience. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto, especially for those who want everything within walking distance.

Only 2 washing machines for the whole hotel so difficult to do a load of washing and one wash / dry takes 3 hours.

Location, quality of the rooms and layout was perfect for us a family of 4 as we had interconnecting rooms so could close the door to the kids' room when they went to bed and chat in our own room

The beds are quite firm, which could be good for some, but was not comfortable for myself.

The hotel is smack dab in the middle of a major shopping area, so there is plenty to see, shop, and eat just a walk away from your doorstep. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially when helping us set up our luggage transfer. The breakfast buffet was good, including some local options, but also covered Western options as well. The rooms are a great size, the biggest we had during this trip in Japan; very easy to take luggage out to pack souvenirs and clothes. Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station was just down the road, with Sanjo Station not too far away, about 10 minutes. Bus stops were pretty close by as well.

Loved the hotel and particularly its location which was very convenient. One thing to note is that it faces the Main Street so it can be noisy at nights. You might want to request a room that faces the other way if you have trouble sleeping

We loved everything, rooms were amazing, location couldn’t be better, breakfast was lovely. We had to book 2 rooms for our fam of 5 and they put us directly opposite eachother at the end of the hallway, which was just perfect as we could keep the doors open at times. Only thing I can think of the bed was a little firm, but that is really not a negative as some like this.

Great location near the food markets and other shopping venues. We used Kyoto as the base the move around the region and it was very efficient. Worth a stay
