Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThere is no employee ou staff to do a check-in or check-out. The lockers are small and the padlocks don't lock well
The hostel is well located, near to Uguisudani Station. There is a lot of restaurants and markets near to. The hostel don't serve a breakfest, but there is a drink vending machine. There is a room for home-office. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are so clean. The place is perfect for solo travelers in a low-cost trip.

ArgentinaIt has no elevator, so if you are carrying heavy luggage take care. Kitchen and share room is small. Is not a hostel for being sociable (if you are looking for that). You can't cook but there is machines for coffee and water. The fridge is small.
You do self-checkin. The hostel is near to the train stations, good location. Is a good price for what they offer. You have a locker for your valuable things, you can't store your lugagge because is not that big. The place is clean. Quiet during the nights, good for working

MexicoWhen we stayed there was a little problem with bed bugs, but as soon as they heard they took care of it and fumigated the hole building
the location is perfect, it’s very close to the Uguisudani station, you can walk to Senso-Jin temple and Ueno Park is also close by. Also there are a lot of good restaurants near the hostal.

FranceThe room was a little bit small, and the bed was very good quality, but it was very good for 1 night.
The shower and bathroom were very clean. The staff was professional. You can check out whenever you like. It was close to the Tokyo station 15 minutes with the underground. It was not too cold in the room. I recommend it for 1 night!

United States- The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. - I stabbed my thumb on an exposed nail on the inside of my locker door
- Convenient location: it was very close to a metro station and there were a lot of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Ueno Park was quick walk away. - I didn't see any staff but got instructions ahead of time for convenient entry and self-checkin.

PhilippinesI don't like the smell of the room. It smells mixed of smoke & men, & the curtain of bed needs change, the pillow is too thin, that it doesn't make a different if you're using it.
JR Yamanote is very near to hotel, just a short walk. Lot of nearby restaurant and convenience store. Also, near to Ueno Park. Though there's no staff, it's easy to check in & check out, they also reply fast. I also like that they have space when you want to eat. There's coffee for a fee & vendo.

PhilippinesThis hostel doesn't have an elevator so you're gonna be going up and down... A lot. I was assigned to the 4th floor and was bringing heavy luggages so it was a bit challenging for me. You must be comfortable trying to sleep with others snoring loudly nearby. The dorm room is fully packed every night by overnight stayers and I've experienced hearing a lot of people snoring really loudly every night. The bed that was assigned to me was an upper bed. It has an I-beam over my head so the narrow space got even tighter, but I can deal with it due to my short height.
I love all the amenities the hostel has to offer. Plenty of private baths and toilet rooms. The veranda is a nice smoking area. The staff can change your towels everyday if you request it. The common rooms are nice and clean. It offers free filtered water and a common fridge for food storage. The location is perfect going to Akiba or Ikebukuro, it has a JR station nearby. Also a bunch of fast food chains, convenience stores, vending machines, coin laundry, grocery & medicine shops nearby.

MalaysiaThe room for two is ridiculously small, can't open our suitcases unless we fold the futon and even so, we need to take turns. The room could have been aired out first after other customers had checked out. It smells horrible. Thankfully I brought an air freshener and I opened the window to let the cold air in. We stayed at level 3 and one of the sinks was broken; they did not fix it, stayed broken for 5 days that we were there. STAIRCASE.
The location is great as it is near Uguisudani train station. And there is a laundry place nearby. A water dispenser is provided: hot and cold. There is even a vending machine inside the building. Shampoo, conditioner and soap is provided. The toilet is clean.

Philippines*They allowed children guests in the bunk bed rooms. Not against it but, but most of the time, they are the cause of noises in the rooms. *Also I booked for 2 beds(for 2 persons) for 4 days, and requested to be adjacent with one another, one month ahead, and they confirmed the request. However, upon check in, we found out that we were assigned into different rooms and floor level.
Near the train station. Very accessible. Good for backpackers and solo or couple travellers.

AustraliaThe bathrooms could use a more frequent or more thorough clean, if you’re looking to socialise this is not for you. The staff were practically non-existent, except for the occasional cleaning staff member who were friendly enough. If you want to secure your luggage I recommend bring a chain or rope as they are not provided
The decor was cute, the location great, the check in check out process was pretty easy. The beds were pretty comfortable and the showers had good water pressure and temperature.
