Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt can get a bit loud as the walls are made of paper. Barely saw the cat 🥲
Absolutely amazing place, very cosy vibes, cute kitchen, lots of space & great beds. I really felt home here.

SwitzerlandGreat guesthouse, clean and there is an equipped shared kitchen, convenient as the choice of restaurants at night is limited on the island (there is a grocery shop nearby, but check the opening times!) it is also really nice to have a chat with other guests at night in the shared kitchen. The location is fantastic to visit all the art sites on the island and to take the ferry for Teshima. Check in is between 4-6pm but you can drop in your baggage if you arrive earlier.

SingaporeFor those who are very noise sensitive, the walls are paper thin. I had no problem, and the guest house limits certain showers after 22:00 to reduce noise.
Beautiful Japanese minka house made into a guest house. The guest house was very cozy and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests in the kitchen and living room. The house is just stunning and it was such a joy staying there in the heart of Honmura area. It is opposite Ando museum and Art House: Minamidera. I was also given a 100¥ discount on the café opposite. The hosts also work at Cafe Salon Nakaoku which is another beautiful restaurant and a must-visit! Do make a reservation with the GH for dinner. :)

AustraliaWish I saw the cat but didn't get to catch it whilst I was there!
Super comfortable and homey house with a cute cafe outside. Although it was a hostel it was extremely quiet and felt very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was also super clean and there were multiple shower rooms available for use. The location was near a bus stop for access around the galleries.

DenmarkVery thin walls so if you’re sensitive to noise it could be a problem for some people. I didn’t mind though

AustraliaAs the house is old, sound insulation is not good. It is recommended to bring your own ear plugs. There are also limited restaurants near by and the convenient store has short opening hours. You should plan ahead regarding your meals.
Good location in Honmura with easy access to the Art House Projects, bus stop and ferry port. It is a cozy traditional Japanese house.

AustraliaThe ONLY drawback for me was the futon mattresses. I am not used to sleeping on a futon and I needed the addition of a self inflating camp mat underneath for comfort. My daughter was used to Japanese beds and had no issues.
Roji to Akari was so beautiful and inviting. It felt like home even with shared facilities. If you are looking for luxury look elsewhere. This is a warm shared guest house with everything you need. Close to the ferry and local mini mart as well as most of the Art houses. I travel with a small but comfy camp mat which helped me, under the futon mattress for that extra Western comfort! The hosts were fantastic and the house is situated right next to a fantastic little coffee shop. Naoshima's galleries, museums and art houses were all within walking/riding distance and some of the most remarkable art installations I have experienced. Just go and see this amazing place!

SlovakiaIf you are travelling in winter like us, I would probably recommend something else. The room loses the temperature quite quickly and you probably don't want the noisy AC to keep running during the whole night... Also there are no locks, not even for your room when you are leaving. Just saying.
It is a pretty gesthouse in a great location, right opposite to one of the House Art Projects. Check-in was easy, the lady was very nice. There is a cute cat residing.

United KingdomBeing an older traditional Japanese building the walls are mostly shoji which provides zero soundproofing and if other guests are not considerate can be tough.
Had a lovely stay at Roji to Akari. Room was comfortable and clean and the space had a lovely cozy feel. Loved the location being in so close to the art house project. Having the kitchen was really helpful as food options are limited on Naoshima. Cafe on the property was wonderful! Naoshima was a highlight of a month long trip in japan- would definitely recommend.

AustraliaWorth noting is that there are no lockers/security for bags and the property is not locked however we did not find this to be a concern in the lovely area. The walls are also thin so sound carries but nothing a pair of earplugs can’t manage.
Beautiful condition with great amenities. We didn’t cook while staying but there was a kitchen with the option to, a warm living room, and great showers and toilets. Location worked well for us as close to the ferry port we used to arrive and in walking distance to the Ando museum and art house project. Also close to a bus stop so we were able to easily use this for any further locations.
