Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSome people might want a few more frills (such as a TV). Not cheap for a single person by Island standards, but you’re paying for the view and the contemporary vibe.
Great view, balcony, tastefully simple Muji décor, overall vibe of sustainability and care. Exceptional dinner with local Setouchi ‘fusion’ cuisine. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff ( English spoken). Even though it’s a 10-15 minute uphill hike on foot from the Port, this is only an issue if you have a lot of luggage.

AustraliaThe staff at My Lodge were very responsive and helpful to my queries. we had a rough transit and arrived very late (11pm) and they surprised us and met us at the ferry. They were very friendly and helpful and the property was very stylish, clean and a great view.

AustraliaIf 'My Lodge' could meet each major ferry from Takamatsu and Uno with a minibus - or at least those on which it knows that booked guests are arriving - I think it would be very popular, even if there were a modest charge. Also we had a room on the lower of the "B" floors. On the grass verge right outside our window was a row of bright lights, one every 1.5 metres or so, which came on at sunset and stayed on ALL NIGHT. So we had to keep the black-out curtains fully drawn, even though the weather was quite warm and we would much prefer to have left the windows and curtains open to let in air. This is ridiculous. Those lights should go out at 11pm at the latest. We complained to the staff but they were obviously too junior to do anything about it.
Breakfasts were fine, a good mix of Japanese and Western-style. The location is good, with excellent views, though it does involve climbing a steep hill from the ferry port pulling luggage behind one. The rooms are very well equipped and comfortable except for lighting (see below). We had dinner at My Lodge one evening - expensive but excellent food. We arrived on Monday night when neither My Lodge's restaurant nor almost any other restaurant in Miyanoura was open. Be warned - you need to self-cater somehow or book one of the few restaurants that are open well in advance.

United KingdomVery little flexibility when it comes to meals. Only an hour breakfast (8-9AM), and a couple of hours for dinner. And as many other reviews already say, the rooms can be a bit noisy.
The views from the rooms of the sea are second to none. The rooms are also spacious for Japanese measures and simple in design.

CanadaShort hike up with luggage was a bit of a challenge in hot weather. Complimentary pjs/robes similar to other hotels in Japan would be a nice added touch.
Lovely design. We had a private guesthouse with our own sauna and outdoor tub, water view. Breakfast and dinner available on site. Staff were friendly and helpful.

GermanyThe property is on a steep hill—hence the great view—there are also steep and narrow stairs inside the property itself: for anyone who is not fit and/or good on foot this could be a real challenge, especially as there is no help offered negotiating the stairs with one‘s luggage.

AustraliaShort steep hill to the hotel which is fine if you don’t have too much luggage. Some noise from the other rooms which they warn you about.
Beautiful views from the room, peaceful and relaxing feel to the hotel. They suggested we try the pizza which was great with the drinks we had brought. Make sure to bring your own snacks drinks and it’s about 10 min walk to the 7-11 otherwise .
