Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe loved everything
We loved our stay at Node Hotel so much! It was exceptional! The location, the people at the front desk, the hotel, the rooms.. everything! The design was beautiful and I love that we could just walk everywhere from there. I wish we could have stayed longer. Hopefully we will get back there.

AustraliaWe felt the check-in staff were not as friendly as other places we have stayed in, however, the process was quick.
The room was amazing, very modern and upmarket. Spacious, with a welcoming, comfy bed and the shower area was a great way to unwind after a day of walking, shopping and exploring. The art works were a lovely, added reason to stay. Well curated and aesthetically pleasing

United KingdomThe reception, bar & restaurant area is well designed and best cocktails in Japan we had! The room however could be better equipped with toiletries , spoons for the coffee and sugar too, I have asked the reception but was not provided the first time , then had to ask at the bar and they gave me some sugar and a spoon. Additionally , the room is quite dark so no natural light is coming in as the windows are covered. However, there is a well aired smoking room at the bar area which is good for smokers. Pillows are not very comfortable and they do not make the bed only cleaning the room and refilling of the toiletries. Overall good stay! We did not try the food however is italian menu and it looked pretty good. There is also 7/11 shop just across the street. The hotel does not have a laundry coin machine or laundry service either.

United KingdomThe interior decorator was a bit fanciful, everything for looks instead of comfort and room/decor is an overall a bit gloomy. The bed base has sharp edges that overlap the mattress which can, and did cause injuries (especially at night when the room is dark). I loved the inclusive breakfasts BUT wasn’t my partner’s vibe / he would have preferred something with less salad/veg and altogether plainer .. or just an option which there wasn’t. No TV which didn’t bother us but surprising in a hotel.
Boutique hotel style, modern and very clean. Nice size room . Convenient to indoor market and many restaurants in the area.

LatviaThe only drawback for us was the limited breakfast options. As we stayed for four nights, the selection felt a bit repetitive.
We had a wonderful stay at Node Hotel in Kyoto. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the stylish and thoughtfully curated atmosphere. The premises feel more like a contemporary art space than a typical hotel, with carefully chosen flowers, striking photography and paintings, and beautiful accessories that add character to every corner. Our Junior Suite room on an upper floor was exceptionally spacious and well designed. We loved the separate wardrobe room and the convenient kitchenette, which made the space feel both luxurious and homey. The décor struck the perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy comfort. The location is excellent—central enough to explore Kyoto easily, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful. Finally, the staff were outstanding: warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. Overall, Node Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. Stylish, comfortable, and welcoming—highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto.

United StatesThe all grey decor was kind of sad in combination with my view of grey walls. The chairs were not nice to sit in - aesthetics privileged over comfort.
By far the most spacious room on my Japan trip. Fairly good location, 10 mins walk to a couple transit lines. Buses nearby.

United KingdomNo great if you want to un-pack no draws with limited hangers. The pillows were also really hard. There was also quite a big language barrier which made communication at the front desk quite hard.
Great location, big rooms although it’s mainly style over substance especially if you’re staying for a week like we were.

United KingdomSome of the staff struggled to speak English and did not get a colleague who could. This included asking for a vegetarian breakfast, it took a while for them to understand. The room was dark, but corridor was really dark the whole time. You do need to tell them the day before what time you want breakfast the next day, I wanted to have a lie in but was struggling with jet lag so it was hard to work out a time.
Very clean, staff are friendly, great shower, ideal location for sightseeing. Bar/resturant is nice and quality of food was excellent.
