Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We love everything about this hotel… the in room onsen was a haven for you to soak all your troubles away… the room is new and design well thought out … we had a lovely view of the sea and sun set from the room , as well as dining area. The quality of the meals especially dinner was unparalleled too. We regretted to have only stayed here for one night but will keep the memories with us always.

During our 16-day holiday in Japan, my husband & I, together with another couple, stayed in 7 ryokans/hotels & Iseya is the BEST! The hotel is new & clean & the facilities are so good! We opted for dinner & breakfast in the hotel & we were so happy & satisfied with the quality & freshness of the food & service level of the attending staff who went beyond their call of duty to make us comfortable! Special mention goes to a male service staff (I think he is the supervisor; forgot his name but was Mayama or something) who served us dinner on 15 Nov. We wanted to order a bottle of red wine & sake to go with our dinner & asked for his recommendation. The sake he recommended was so good, we decided to buy 2 extra bottles to bring home! When this same male service staff heard from us that we had to rush off to catch the ferry to Kumamoto the next morning & breakfast only starts at 7.30am, he left word for our breakfast to be ready earlier. We were pleasantly surprised & so grateful that a new batch of service staff were waiting for us at the dining room when we went down to checkout at 7.20am on 16 Nov. Really fantastic service! I would strongly recommend anyone looking for accommodation in Nagasaki to book Iseya! You won't regret it!! Mrs Chia Singapore 15-16 November 2023

PeruIt was all perfect!
Everything was above and beyond. The staff was particularly lively and helpful, even for Japanese standards! (which is saying a lot since they're generally very nice!). All the details were very thoughtfully prepared. The food was exquisite! Hard to believe it was all included, since the food alone could have been worth at least $100 in any gourmet restaurant at a big city. The flavors were indeed more than just traditional Japanese and went along with the mixture of influences that Nagasaki is known for. Every dish was explained by the friendly staff, who are evidently very passionate about their craft. The design of the rooms and the hotel are aesthetically and experientially magical. We enjoyed the private onsen in front of the beautiful seaview. They also have a public onsen! The hotel is 3 minutes away (walking) from the Obama Onsen Bus Stop, which is where any bus will drop you off from either Nagasaki or Isahaya Station, so even that comes in handy. 10/10

The sunset view is hard to beat. Rooms come with their private onsen facing the sea. Rooms are also spacious and clean, while beds are provided, I was happy to sleep on the tatami mats. The public onsen is spacious and relaxing. Food is exceptional and delicious, staff are very accomodating to my requests and friendly. While Obama onsen is not central, getting there is no issue. There are highway buses from Fukuoka to Isahaya where you can change to local buses. I didn't have a car and reached Iseya (from Fukuoka) by a combination of trains and bus. The bus stop is just 3 mins walk away from Iseya so no issue with public transport.

United StatesI've never been anywhere in the world more irresponsible about food allergies. At check-in they asked me, and I said I'm allergic to shellfish. They then proceeded to serve me shellfish at literally every meal, even though it was often the same waiter I had told at the previous meal that I couldn't eat shellfish. Sometimes there'd be giant clam shells sticking out of the soup so it was obvious, but other times there's be snail hidden inside. I wound up having to confirm with each dish (and there's a *lot* of dishes at dinner). And I had a card written in Japanese, so I'm sure it wasn't a language issue.
It's a very relaxing place in a beautiful area for a good price. The hot springs in the hotel room with the sea view was as amazing as it looks in the photos! Some of the reviews said that the staff didn't speak English very well, but we don't know any Japanese and had no trouble communicating.
