Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bed was uncomfortable- too hard for me. Perhaps they could consider changing mattresses or offering mattress toppers.
The location was excellent for UN meetings. 14-15 minutes walk. The breakfast was excellent and there was a regular supply of teas, coffee, hot chocolate. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.

TurkeyThere was some confusion about eggs and the way we wanted them to be cooked. We asked for fried eggs and a plain omlette arrived. This is the only place that we had difficulty getting the eggs right. The kitchen seemed a little grubby and there were quite a lot of flies around opened jars and cans.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning after an overnight flight. We were met and greeted by Jack despite the hour. He was extremely friendly and carried our bags straight to our room. He made sure that we had clean towels and water to drink. He assured us that breakfast would be available when we woke up, no matter what the time was. He was also very helpful in helping us to set up and use the UBER app which made our expeditions around Nairobi so easy. He also suggested places that we might like to visit. He made our stay quite enjoyable. It was nice to be able to sit outside in nice grounds. The pool was clean.

KenyaMosquito nets would be good. They left me a room spray and that helped but the first few nights were a bit disturbed. But that was honestly the only complaint.
Excellent value for money, Friendly staff, extremely convenient location, nice breakfast, nice swimming pool, overall very happy with the booking

AustriaNote: We had the budget room. If you have any of the other rooms, your experience will greatly differ (positively)! The bed and breakfast was in a state of planned construction so there were plenty of visible improvements to-be-made but not made yet. The budget room is okay for a night or two but not recommended for longer stays as it is extremly space limited as well as a very poor mattress. The staff were overworked although very friendly. The breakfast took a very very long time to be done so dont plan to go to work in a rush. The area is very expensive at Gigiri and the accomodation does not quite fit into the right price category.
Note: We had the budget room. If you have any of the other rooms, your experience will greatly differ (positively)! Every morning we had plenty of fruits and the biggest avocados I have ever seen for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and offered plenty of support did we need it. The location is great for any quick runs to the nearby mall as well as for any work related visits to the diplomatic sector and the UN. Around the corner you can walk to the Karura Forest which can take anywhere from an hour to a whole day! The B&B has a pool that is well maintained and cleaned should you need a dip! Overall, we spent evenings in the lobby where the wifi was the fastest chatting with the staff and unwinding.

AustraliaInitially I was in a room close to the road and it was somewhat noisy, but the hosts kindly changed and everything was fine after that. Thanks Jack for being so kind!!
This property is a great location and accurate to all reviews. It is secure, an easy walk to the UN complex, shopping and has a lovely outdoor garden, eating area and pool. The avocados grown on the property are magnificent. Jack is an amazing host and will do anything to ensure you enjoy the stay. The owners are also upgrading the wifi and other aspects.

United KingdomSadly the property is neglected and therefore poorly maintained. The compound and grass need a good TLC . Exposed live electricity wires pose as a Health and Safety Hazard. Imagine if there were little kids playing around the property!! Also the pillows need to be washed and dressed in pillow protectors. Window handles were broken in my room. Also invest in a dish washer to enhance hygienic cleaning of dishes and cutlery etc.
Great location, great property,

KenyaNothing in particular
It’s conveniently located in Gigiri a stone throw away from IOM health screening center and the few minutes walk to village market among other amenities. The neighborhood is quiet and lush as well. The property has a home feeling with spacious self contained rooms and a sizeable compound dotted with trees.

PortugalIs not close to the center, so it really depends of what are your needs. Ok to rest, but not the right choice if you want to meet other people.
The most positive point is without a doubt the kindness and availability of the people, making you feel very welcome and taken care. The breakfast is good and freshly prepared according to your wishes from a menu. In general is a good place to stay specially if you plan to do things around Gigiri area, having a good price/quality relation.

United StatesFrom the road it looks a bit scary, but don't let that turn you away!
Our suite (Mombassa) was extremely spacious. The breakfasts were excellent. We had one dinner at Dreamplace but although they advertise the possibility of lunches and dinners they really are not so happy to provide them. There is an upscale mall a few minutes walk away with lots of dining options, and they recommend using this instead - we agree.

The property has the most friendly and welcoming staff. Mr. Jack and everyone else went out of their way to make my stay hospitable. It felt Luke home away from home. Certainly my home for all my UN trips. It’s in a walking distance, close to the village market and the security is excellent!
