Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom1. The Location, it is remote; (which makes up for the serenity) but very far from Ukunda and therefore, most amenities if not driving. It was also hard to locate as GPS kept rerouting. 2. It's not really family oriented as there was no kids focused entertainment. It's a straight up accomodation only so you have to go outside to source how to entertain your kid (s). 3. No fresh drinking water in the rooms. There is a kettle so I boiled tap water but noticed it had so much seasand residue collecting in the bottom of a glass and therefore, a health hazard. 4. Hot water takes a good 20 minutes odd wait to get hot. Which is a waste of time and water as you had to leave it running as you wait therefore, have to wake up earlier too. 5. This is a personal preferance not a must, but would have preferred to have a microwave instead of a kettle in the rooms. As dinner is not included, if you have leftovers, there is no way to warm it as there is no cooker either which means you have to spend more money to buy hot food even though you may still have enough from last night's. 6. Very minor but unprofessional regardless, staff loudly talking about guests, which as a Kenyan I took offence to as I could understand the local dialect.
1. It's very serene and quiet so the night kip was silent and peaceful. It is also breathtaking and gives amazing holiday pictures. 2. The rooms are nicely traditionally decorated. Large and clean. 3. The swimming pool was clean, well lit and with a camera monitoring for safeguarding. There are also cctvs cameras concealed in places, which at first can be annoying if not aware you're being recorded but made us feel safe. 4. When out, you get back to a cleaned room and fresh linen. 5. Breakfast was my daughter's and I favourite. Fresh fruits and pressed juice. Assorted breakfast throughout and good portions. 6. Noel was always available to assist with queries, directions of how to access the beach and locality etc. 7. Flexibility in checking in and out. 8. Close proximity to the beach with one being able to walk there or hire a tuktuk (taxi) at an affordable price. 9. Arranged tours to a Wasinii Island, with a door point pickup and drop off.

PolandThe host was really helpful and kind, he described in detail the neighbourhood during our welcome talk. The breakfast was served every morning and it was very delicious (lots of fresh fruits, fresh juice). A very beautiful and peaceful garden. If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place for rest this is the perfect location for both couples and families.

BelgiumThe road to Sheba Cottages is unpaved and in poor condition. As a result it was not always easy to find transport to head back to the cottages after dark. Sheba cottages is not close to the center of Diani beach. Depending on what you are looking for this can be a pro or a con. We appreciated the peace and quiet after coming from Nairobi and Mombasa.
Sheba cottages is a little off the beaten path, but it offers a beautiful paradise to relax for a few days. The host is very welcoming and showed us how to walk down to the beach and the best beach bars/restaurants to pass our time. Breakfast is included but since we were up early every morning for a tour, they delivered it the night before. We only stayed for 2 days, but could have definitely spent more time here.

United StatesWe new there wasn't AC in the unit, but the nights are definitely very hot and it can get stuffy/humid with just fans.
Very spacious room, clean and with a beautiful pool area. The rooms were very clean, the host was very attentive and the breakfast super delicious. They even accomodated for early breakfasts before our dives. It is a short walk to the beach or you can take a cheap tuktuk back and forth. There were moscito nets for all the beds. Absolutely loved our stay.

EstoniaParadise like garden, very welcoming host (does everything that you would feel good), cozy and clean cottages. The location away from main tourist area is a bonus, as here there is less those who want to sell things. Easy to get to the shore and cafes with tuktuk or boda in 10-15 minutes. Super place!

NetherlandsNothing. All was fine!
Every morning a fresh breakfast was made, consisting of coffee/tea, a fruit shake, eggs (different styles), something sweet, and fresh fruit. The garden is really one of the most (and well maintained) gardens ever seen and the swimming pool is refreshing. The WiFi is great, perfect spot to work remotely. The walk from the apartment to the beach is 15 min. On my way I spoke to many locals and kids; I felt completely safe. There are many options for a drink, lunch or diner on walking distance. In the evening you can take a boda/tuk tuk back to the cottages. I will definitely come back. Thanks Noel and staff for the lovely time!
