Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesI want to take a moment to thank the manager Esther for affording me extra attention when I arrived in Kenya for the first time without any of my luggage. I somehow managed to give her work phone number to the luggage recovery service at NBO and she was able to become my liaison and personally look after my precious luggage while I was away for a week in Lamu. The hotel itself was surprisingly well featured and was exceptionally convenient for my domestic flight from Wilson Airport just across the road. If you can carry your luggage up and down a pedestrian bridge and walk a 3-400 meters you can simply walk to your terminal from the hotel.

All the Staff were extremely welcoming and catering to our needs, breakfast was amazing 6.30-10) and varied each day, on the day we had our safari at 6am they even opened at 5.45 so we could enjoy breakfast before going! Our hotel room was a lot larger than expected too. If we are to return to Nairobi, this is where we will stay and a big reason for that is Daudi, welcomed us with a cheery smile each morning and did whatever he could to make us feel welcome, his warm smile was a great way to start the day.

GermanyDriver wasn't waiting on our arrival but may have been due to the fact our flights changed. A quick recover and we were transported to the hotel with a Plan B.
Esther and the staff who we corresponded with before our stay were exceptional. Esther especially was very flexible and helpful - although it was our first (but not last visit) she treated us like returning guests and in fact 'friends'. She and her team were patient and accommodating with our travel changes and challenges. Such a pleasure!
