The real Sri Lankan experience in a happy village

Happy Man Village is the best place to enjoy the real Sri Lankan experience. In this family run structure is possible to enjoy amazing meals made of fresh products from their lands, simple cooked and delicious. The staff is going to propose several activities to do in the area, in this way there is no need to settle anything since everything will be managed from them simplyfing our life. We really enjoyed the catamaran safari and the boat trip in the river close to the village. But the best thing is the attention from the staff to the guests, always smiling and being available to any possible requests. A special mention needs to be done to the young Baba he was always available and ready to help, bringing us small treats like smoothies and cocount, at any time of the day and showing us nice landscapes spots, along with the cinnamon and wild plants and animals in the surroundings of the village. Located in the middle of Kosgoda village, here we found the most authentic feelings.

Nothing really, we absolutely enjoyed it. If we do need to mention one little thing, it would be the swimming pool area - it could use a bit extra attention, but overall well enough for our son to swim and play.

Almost everything! The whole family made our stay incredible, felt a bit like being around your own family. -Food is healthy and home cooked every single day, breakfast is amazing. There’s too much option to choose from. Baba, our day to day server, even jumped up to climb trees to get us some fresh coconuts. -Room is immaculate, you won’t find any dust and they clean everyday. It’s a nice feeling coming home from a day trip. We found almost no mosquitoes or insects at all. -Shower, it can be really hot shower above 8 o’clock in the morning, try to take your shower early. We enjoyed our outdoor shower, birds chirping and the river behind the property makes it really sound idyllic. -Location, it’s a bit in the middle of nowhere (which we enjoy), but you can easily access the road and the beach within 10 mins, and they provide tuk tuk (or car) to transfer to the nearest beach which is handy. - Staff! Shout out to Roshana, Baba, and Ishuru to name a few! Amazing people and very good at they do. The family provides recommendations for trips all around the country. They literary took us everyone, which we found super convenient and well priced. Overall, we were super impressed by this little gem!

I loved all of it. Really good value for money. Would have been nice to pay in a different way than cash but apart from that, no problems.

Beautiful family, very welcoming and very helpful. Drove me to the beach and went above and beyond for me. Dinner was incredible, only 3,000 rupees! Breakfast also lovely with a good pot of tea. Arranged a catamaran trip too which was super cheap and a nice thing to do. Room was great. No bug issues. Nothing extravagant definitely better than expected. Pool is also lovely.

If you are looking for a peaceful, restful place Happy Man Village is a great choice. This is really beautiful and very well maintained property in the calm village of Kosgoda. Both the owner and staff frequently went the extra mile while we were there and were really helpful to my husband and I and supported us with options to relax and enjoy our 2 day stay. This calm, tranquil oasis is a short walk from the beach and Happy Man Village also have connections with nearby beach restaurants that offer a unique relaxing experience if you’re in need of a quick recharge and to get some sunshine in your bones! We had a lovely ayurvedic massage which we booked with the owners. Make sure you tell them about your needs, they have many options that cater for both groups and couples. This was such a great experience after a long flight from the UK! A big thanks to the owner Sulalitha, Suni and Ranga our transfer drivers (Ranga also took us to Galle on the way to the next point in our journey, Baba who was simply amazing with his attentive service with mealtimes and arrangements, Babi whose home cooking was simply outstanding! Thank you for making our stay truly memorable and enjoyable! We had an amazing time, nothing was a problem and the food was delicious! Thank you Happy Man Village! You are truly a happy place!

There is nothing to not like about the property.

We loved everything about the property, right from the check in, to check out.. the family who is running the property are exceptionally sweet and helpful. Food is so delicious and the rooms and facilities are mind blowing. It was like home away from home. Haven’t been so comfortable on any trip as much as we were at happy man village. Three cheers for Su & his family!! Very well kept property. Highly highly recommended!!

The room is semi-outdoor, but you get the privacy if you don't mind some birds watching you taking a shower and some mosquitoes joining you 😅

Room 10/10 (clean/spacious/comfortable bed) Bathroom 9/10 (clean/warm water) Dining area 10/10 (spacious/outdoor open to the garden) Swimming pool 10/10 Location 10/10 (quite place/near to kosgoda beach you can walk or ask them to drop you by tuk tuk) Family owners were very kind and won't let you feel uncomfortable they always approach you before you ask and will start conversations with you and make you feel like you are at home They have a wonderful river safari you can watch the local and the tropical immigrant birds and not to forget the breathtaking sunset (its a must to take the tour you wont regret it)

The room was big, but dark. You may open window shutters but it will become hot as there are no windowpanes. Breakfast was very good. There is a very big and nice swimming pool. I didn't like the location itself as it seems it doesn't offer basically any good dinner options in the close neighbourhood. The hotel offers a dinner option but in my option it is quite expensive, 10USD per person might be too much if you want to eat there every day. In general, very good but in my opinion too expensive for what it offers.

Sulalitha and his entire family are great hosts, very helpful, discreet and authentic. The garden is well maintained and the bungalows are very spacious and clean. What stood out the most was the delicious food, cooked according to my spice tolerance and a highlight of my short stay was the sunset catamaran ride on the river. I was looking for nature, peace and tranquillity and this is exactly the place where to find it. Hope to come back again!

Highly recommended. The place is spectacular, the rooms are spacious, very clean and with an open bathroom, surrounded by nature. The garden and pool are very well maintained. The owners are great people, very friendly and nice. They welcomed us with great affection. The food they offered us was delicious. They gave us a tour with their catamaran on the river and accompanied us to visit the temple. We will repeat without a doubt.

We were charged 10 dollars each for vegetarian curry. And it was the highest we paid in sri lanka. In the sheraton Hotel opposite the main road you can eat amazing curry for 1300 rupees each. That was really disappointing.

The swimming pool was clean and big. Staff, especially Baba, was so helpful and attentive. Women of the house were kind and hospitable. We liked the garden too. We rented a scooter from them as the location is a bit tricky.
