but with everything you need. hot water. on the main bus route. 50m from beach and the family will make you breakfast and dinner. nothing was a problem. very generous and obliging family run business 40 rupees to matara and buses run every 5 mins. close to polhena beach to the south and dondra lighthouse and temple 1.5k to the north. great little bay below the lighthouse for snorkelling and swimming.

    it is budget accommodation

First of all I’d like to say that the room is on a slant, and so items roll down to the bottom quite often. This meant that we had a noise complaint as our large bottles of water kept rolling down. Secondly, when we arrived there was no electricity or wifi for a few hours which can’t be helped but being notified of this before arriving would have been greatly appreciated. Another thing that wasn’t mentioned was that there was work being done on a room next to ours and so we were woken up at 9am every morning to the sounds of drilling. There were no curtains on the windows and so the guys working on the roof of this room could see right into ours and so there was no privacy. Thirdly, on our first night we witnessed a snake on our roof, though this is not the complaint because this should be expected when going to a tropical country. The complaint is that when we told the host and showed him the videos/ photos in amazement, he lied to us and told us it was a squirrel. I can guarantee this certainly was not a squirrel and we did not appreciate being lied to. Especially since we come from a country whereby there are no wild snakes like that and so we would not know what to do if that snake had been a threat and the wifi was too slow for us to check information online. The family was lovely but the host was a salesman and kept pushing to sell things to us and send them back to the UK.

This property was close to the beach and had a nice view of plants and trees from the balcony. It was a large room compared to others we stayed at on this trip and had a private entrance.
