Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsAppartments are beautiful, but could use some maintenance. Some moist spots on the ceiling for example.
Amazing location and very friendly personel. If you want to relax this is the place to be.

RomaniaThere is not much to do on the island for more than 4-5 days. Considering the price, the cleaning can be improved.
It’s a nice, remote location perfect for a couple of days to relax. Quite unique location and Emerald Bay might be the most beautiful beach I saw so far

NetherlandsOn the other hand, there are some points that could be improved to lift it to the next level: - The rooms are a bit outdated en could use a big clean. Also a bit noisy because the room is not very well isolated. - Boat cost to and from the island are not included in the price. That results in discussions at check-out. The transport should be included. - It’s very hard to contact the resort. We tried to contact the resort many times, but did not get any response. - The communication overal could be better. It is not clear which restaurants are open/closed and which activities could be booked l. It could help if you put this information in the rooms.
We loved our stay at Pankor Laut. The staff is amazing!! They really made our stay memorabel. Especially, Adnyana, Taha, Sakil, Shaffi, Parthu, Yohid, Putu and Santosh. Thanks guys for everything. You really put a smile on our faces everyday! We enjoyed the food in all the restaurants. The omakase was a really nice experience. We had a little miscommunication with a booking, but Darwin and T. Mages have managed this so well, great service! Overall, the resort is beautiful, the staf is amazing and the food and beverages are really nice. Also the facilities (big swimming pool, tennis court, games room, squash, jungle tour etc.) are very nice. We specially loved the experience in de the Spa.

MalaysiaSuggest to have more activities at night such as jungle night walk, show or performance, kids rides, bubble, song and dance, campfire, live band etc. Understand the needs for some guests to have a quite environment privately, but it's too boring to just walk around , take night view photo, games room and recording room are always full and other option is watching TV at room. More frequent shuttle service will be much appreciated. The bathtub in Beach Villa was less practical as due to open concept design causing the flowers leaves and incects around it. Luckily we have two villas and managed to enjoy the bath in the Garden Villa (also many thanks to the bath salt prepared and Mangosteen toiletry products supporting the women and children with needs). If possible, please have some magnets or other souvenirs at the gift shops other than jewelry, cloth and bags. We wants to get something home but unable to find something suitable.
The idea of welcome popsicle and map plus resort activities explanation upon arrival were very nice. Luggage staff are very helpful from Marina until islands. Boat trip was pleasant especially the new ⁄ clean lifejacket, including children and baby size. The waiting area at Marina and island (including the library with gazebo setup) were great. Food at buffet dinner was decent, not over salty or oily. It will be good to include some simple Japanese food or Korean food to the current local and western options given the name is International buffet. We all love the freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices during the breakfast. Fustal court and basketball court were underutilized (good for us) because it was too hot. A covered and lights at night will definitely improved the experience. We didn't have time to try the kayak and other water sports hence no further comments. The 0.6m pool is good for toddler. But the 1.45m to 1.75m pool is too deep for young children and teenager. Suggest to have another mid level so that all can enjoy. Good job on the wildlife conservation, we saw hornbill, wild boar and fishes (super clear water). Love trees, plants, orchids, the flower water pot art too.

United KingdomThe prices were honestly a bit much to bear - not a great deal was just included in the price. The rooms, although very clean, were looking quite tired and in need of some refurbishment. TVs were not very modern, and the wifi/internet connection in the rooms wasn't especially good - I had more luck with data on my eSIM. There was a fair amount of rubbish below the hill villas, which was disappointing considering the cleanliness elsewhere. The Feast Village was poor value for money. The limited range of restaurants (tbf this was our first "resort" break, perhaps this is common to resorts?) wasn't great considering the length of our stay. But Uncle Lims was better value and genuinely superb quality. Only one beach that you can use - Emerald Bay.
The staff were incredible - a true asset and memorable part of our stay. We really appreciated the "mosquito man" that came around at dusk to replace mozzie repellent, spray the room and close up the shutters. The rooms, restaurants, pools, lobby and paths etc across entire resort are immaculate. The beach at Emerald Bay was kept spotless too. It never felt properly overcrowded, despite being busy (breakfast was a good clue how full the resort was). Uncle Lim's was a highlight. As was sunset/drinks at Chapman's Bar.

MalaysiaThe only thing which was bothering all the time was the trash in the sea which was coming from big land! This is so bad and I know the management of islands is trying to solve this big problem but so far this issue is being unsolved. Hopefully they can fix it coz resort is really nice.
It’s a very nice place for escape! So calm and beautiful! Staff is friendly, food is good! We like to stay in Hill Villa, coz the view is fantastic! Gym got all basic equipments! 2 tennis courts which is great! The pool is with great view! And of course beach is incredible beautiful!

GermanyHousekeeping was disappointing ( dirty mirrors and windows, dirty toilet seat upon check in at our room, trash bag accidentally left outside of our room, dirty bathroom-stall walls at the beach, dirty teacups at restaurant, etc) and our air condition kept malfunctioning.
We have always loved the Island, staff, food and the beach.

Malaysia-Trash at the beach, this is not really the hotel's fault as it seems it is carried by the current. The staff does their best on cleaning the beach very often, especially during high tie. -The games room should be bigger. Although it was fun to play there, around 9 pm was very crowded, and people had to wait to play -The jacuzzi in our villa was not covered, so it wasn't clean as leaves and rain will fall there. We couldn't use it unfortunately
-The Esmerald Bay is beautiful -Amazing views from the infinity pool -Nice restaurants and all of them have nice views, breakfast variety was very good -Boat transfer is on time and comfortable -The room was very nice, loved the sunrise. Good variety of TV channels and free water is available all around the hotel

United StatesTV channels were very limited and the wifi had very weak connection and it was sporadic, in and out all day long.
I love the food! I love that breakfast each day was different so I definitely did not get bored. I also enjoyed pasar malam, it was a very neat experience. The facial and massage that my husband and I got was the best we've ever had! It was absolutely beautiful and we've enjoyed our honeymoon in Pangkor Laut Resort

DenmarkYou can only swim at the beach that is furthest from the reception area. It didn’t bother us (not least as the other beach is beautiful and there is a great pool where you can’t use the beach). Unfortunately, you see some plastic in the water, but the hotel does everything they can to remove (and mainly on the beach where you can’t swim).
Such a beautiful place with excellent staff. It is not cheap, but worth the money.

United KingdomBathrooms in sea villas a little outdated. Could update finishing (curtains in bathroom and outdoor patio furniture). On island taxi service could be either more frequent or on call.
Easy access to all facilities. Fantastic breakfast. Good options for food - for all levels. Great accommodation- sea villas give a luxury feel. Seamless transfers. Turn down service was a nice touch. Spa was very relaxing. Staff was extremely accommodating.

ChinaI have to say that Absolutely Fantastic and Well Above Expectations during our stay in the resort on Pangkor island! Very gentle and careful staff, as well as quite delicious food with varieties, extremely distinctive water villa and magnificent sunrise in West Malaysia! There is a really nice beach and the green but clean water that you can just capture the life as it is due to the original ecological nature what can make you detached from the actual world for a while. Not to mention that there is an awesome SPA which you can have the full relaxation for the soul and body entirely. Last but not the least, the most impressive is that Mr. Adwin Chong, the GM from the resort, who saved my friend’s journey in a way. One of my friends had wrongly picked up the luggage which belongs to other people in the Kuala Lumpur Airport upon arrival and just realized this issue after arrived at the resort on the island, a place almost 4 hours’ drive from the airport, to make matters worse was that the unfortunate man (counterparty) had to take the flight back to Australia the next day. We turned to the GM finally and he went to be wholly devoted to dealt with this issue and managed to directly return the wrong luggage to the hotel where the guy lived in at that time, furthermore he tried to collect the luggage in the airport and handed it to my friend in a timely manner, so as to avoid successfully that my friend’s entire journey ruined by the unexpected episode. He really cares for people and what he runs is the resort with the humane business philosophy. This is definitely one of my most unforgettable memories and I would for sure go back to the resort next time! Thank you all for everything and looking forward to seeing you guys soon!

FranceRoom maintenance needs to be improved and we did not get any answer after asking for one of the lamps to be replaced. Late response after we were promised to be given a cooking recipe for own of the dishes that we liked at the restaurant: the first response was very good but 3 subsequent reminders were needed in order to finally get the recipe.

No doubt it’s a very pretty resort. View from the chalet over the sea is stunning at sunset and sunrise. The staff and the service is second to none, amazing array of food at the restaurants and breakfast has something for everyone. Check in from the jetty is easy and a detailed arrival brief sets you up perfectly to arrive ready to play.
