How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

- wifi is horrible - the shower pressure is embarassing - the location is central but in a kind of weird area - not very social, doesnt have a common area - no curtains, not private at all - sorry but im not changing out of my own slippers to use some common ones to enter the bathroom

The bathrooms very not the best, often no toilet paper and washed by pouring water on the floor, causing them to always be wet and kind of gross.
Good location, nice staff, room was quite small but clean and comfortable

The only thing I could fault this property on would be the cleanliness of the toilets but other than that it was brilliant
location was great for the price, staff was very helpful, loved that we had access to rooftop jacuzzi in the partner hostel for free. also loved that they had a computer downstairs and kitchen and sold sandwiches which saved us a lot of money!

Very good location. There are lockers at the dorm, there is a filter water in a bottle and small kitchen to you, to use.

Wifi was totally unreliable in the room and pretty much throughout the building. This is something that the owners should take more seriously as it's 2023 and having internet is an integral part of all of our lives these days (for better or worse). The surrounding area is a bit dodgy and pretty unsightly in some areas (but I didn't feel unsafe at least). Not sure how much the hostel can do about that though...
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit tight but comfortable enough. A/C was nice. Location is good, within walking distance from Chinatown and the Jalan Alor night market. Reasonable prices for snacks, food, beer, and extra toiletries. Best part is FREE laundry.

The guy in my room was snoring loud and when I made complaint they didn't take any action so I was disturbed during my stay washroom was very dirty they should clean it time to time .

no curtains on beds and beds moved whenever someone rolled over, the 6 bed female dorm was tiny and incredibly hot within minutes of the air conditioning turning off (which the staff refused to turn back on till 8pm despite so many complaints!), the air conditioning in this room broke on the last night and it was awful, walls are very thin and you can hear the people who work there talking through the walls really late into the night
has a kitchenette you can use, very central to Chinatown and walking distance to many areas

Need more showers per head of ppl. But time it right your OK.
Staff are cool.. was 1 of most popular places . City is the most cleanest I've been too. Free use of washing machine. Hot shower. Gr8 location.

Rooms were quite small and very weak AC which meant you you're melting the whole night. Beds were really noisy and with no curtains. There was a window that couldn't be closed so it was light the whole night. Bathrooms were really dirty.
Good-value for money. Really kind staff who were really helpful. Good location, fairly central. Good for a one-night stay no longer.

Ac only is turned on certain hours, bathrooms are not clean, not so easy to meet people, no curtain in beds, shower is super hard to control temperature (too hot)

Woefully inadequate bathroom facilities - 2 toilets (only one of which was working during our stay) and one shower for the whole of the upstairs accommodation
