The room was rather small and didn't have much storage, and we kept banging our heads on the light hanging low above the bed. The bell from the nearby church clocktower was a bit annoying in the mornings.

Cute room above a restaurant with a traditional Dutch box bed. Friendly and helpful service, and the usual facilities.

Our best night's sleep in comfortable bed with a delicious breakfast the following morning. Loved seeing the old smithy & just were sorry we couldn't have dinner. The building is full of character & the hosts were very kind & helpful.

The steps were quite steep but our host took our luggage up to our room for us.

it was a charming former blacksmith shop with the forge and tools still in situ. The host went out of his way for us even taking us to the station. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. A great place to stay to visit Giethoorne

Considering the high end restaurant which this place also has, the breakfast is quite "normal", so more expensive side considering the content. (This is not really a complaint. )

Amazing room. Friendly staff. Historical building with a really nice old ex smiths' room at the hotel. You can feel the history here. Great location.

The couple owned this place are amazing. We had the smallest room yet it was so quaint and clean!! So memorable!! Breakfast was also great!!

Extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us, including driving us to the train station on a rainy day!

Only annoying thing was the noise (our room faced the street and the bar nearby was noisy until late in the night). It was ok with the windows shut and luckily the weather wasn’t too hot during our stay. Breakfast was nice but a bit pricey for what you get.

We cannot say enough good things about The Old Smithy. Friendly, immediate assistance in any matter and the great location, along with really good owners made this venue our best Booking.com stay ever. It is establishments like this that give booking.com a good reputation. Thanks you Unka and Inga (probably spelling the names incorrectly) for a lovely stay.

Actually it is not the thing I don't like, I just want to remind others of the problem of Netherand's traditional staircase. The staircases in Netherlands are steep, very very steep, it is really challenging for people with leg problems and with big suitcases. I myself have both problems, but thankfully the nice stuff help me to due with my suitcase, even before I asked them to. Thank you very much!

It's just 8 minutes walking distance from the Steenwijk train station and the no.70 / 270 bus stop to Giethoorn . It locates at the main square and the shopping area of the district, so It is really easy to find something to eat. The traditional decoration of my room It's fantastic! The staff are nice and helpful. The restaurant of the hotel is inviting, I wish I could have a chance to have dinner there, ( It was fully booked because of it popularity)

It is a very nice, small hotel. We had the senior suite and that was a really lovely room. Breakfast was delicious! Steenwijk is an interesting and beautiful little town.

The bathroom was quite dark. The stairs to the rooms are very steep.

Cozy small hotel in the center of the city with beautiful, spacious rooms. Very atmospheric. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast served to the table. Felt like every detail was well considered, in the rooms but also throughout the hotel. Great stay.
