Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaWhen light was on the heater was on.. which quickly turned the room into a sauna (couldn’t understand the link as the heater on the side of a bed was cold..) There was only one bathroom so even at 6am there was a queue waiting. Bed should be attached to the wall because it’s moving a lot when climbing the ladder.
Extremely affordable, kitchen has everything you need, room of 4 beds was spacious and divided into two parts that gave more privacy.

New ZealandParking extremely pricey. The room was cheaper to book. Indoor signage could be better as all doors look the same maybe different font or bigger signage for common areas
Good location, friendly staff, I really liked the retreat area and bathrooms were very clean.

New ZealandEvery time you go to the quilt and the bed does not seem to be very clean, there is residual hair and grass? Then I was bitten by a flea, although I do not know if it was bitten in the room, because the following two days have not been bitten again, the sound insulation between the rooms is not particularly good, the sound of the door is very clear, and the road inside is very winding, easy to go to the wrong door, but for this price, this accommodation has exceeded expectations
The facilities are complete, with luggage storage and photocopying services, parking is available for a fee, the location is good, in the city centre, the staff is friendly, and the toilets and bathrooms are clean.

United StatesJust a few things needed attention, nothing major. There was a leaking fridge in the main dining area that made it less inviting with wet towels and a puddle on the floor. One of two dryers was busted. And for a large group, gathering in any of the upstairs areas was impossible because of access restrictions.
Great location in the middle of Wellington with wonderful staff. The place was cleaned thoroughly and bedrooms were great. Staff accommodated our large group and provided parking (for a fee) for our 2 minibuses.

IrelandThe shower hadn’t been cleaned from the last person as there was hairs and empty shampoo bottle in it.
It is a great location. We found it very quiet. Each section had their own kitchen which was nice. We also had an en-suite. It’s always lovely when you can choose that option if you are looking for your own space on a budget.

New ZealandThe bathroom to guest ratio in this place is absolutely laughable. Expect to wait a lot and/or go downstairs to use the facilities (and even then you'll have to wait sometimes). At least they are cleaned frequently. Also, the door to my dorm room was the only one which inexplicably had a window so at night the light from the hallway was quite annoying. C'mon folks -- covering up the window would be an easy fix!! Also, in the year 2024 it is a bit upsetting how a hostel this large does not offer female-only dorm rooms. Even though I had to dorm with a bunch of men thankfully they were all nice so I was not uncomfortable. I booked 6-bed dorms both of my stays and they were also comically small, so be prepared for that. Both times my rooms contained lockers that were broken (and dirty) so that could be something that staff could also fix and improve.
My second time saying here. It's not perfect but something about this place drew me back. It's huge and absolutely a maze but very welcoming, comfortable, and full of friendly people. Folks never lock the dorm room doors (not my preference) but at least you need to swipe your key card multiple times before getting to your dorm so things still felt secure. The facilities are modern/nice enough and not perfectly spotless but cleaner than you'd expect. It's great how the kitchen and bathrooms are cleaned so frequently -- this is much appreciated. It's nice having a small kitchen on each floor to supplement the larger one downstairs, as that one is not large enough to accommodate everybody. I liked hanging out in the big lounge -- it's a nice space, along with the courtyards. It's super great having a power outlet for each bed!! (even top bunks!) The location of the hostel is also wonderful -- just be prepared to have to walk up a steep hill to get there! Finally, the price was fantastic and helps to make the not-so-great aspects of your stay worth it.

New ZealandSpring beds... not really my type since it can be a bit loud. A bit of noise during night time and curtains don't have that much cover to have a really dark room.
The best location to stay when exploring Wellington. Everything is walkable such as restaurants, convenience stores and library where I can hangout. Bathrooms were clean and people there are awesome.
