Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyRight now there is massive construction going on right in front of the accomodation. Unfortunately you cannot chill between 8am and 7pm - it is so loud you don't even understand the person next to you. We asked the host for a reduction since we didn't know about what was going on but they refused - too bad! You have to be aware that this place is in the middle of the slums and you definitely need a Tuktuk to get into the main part (around 3-5 soles) HONEST ADVICE: skip Iquitos - it is not nice at all!!!!! It is loud (many tuktuks and too many people), massive dirty.
The host (very well English-speaking! ) was very nice and helpful. The terrace and kitchen area is very much comfortable and has everything to chill. If you would imagine this place somewhere else it would have been perfect.

BelgiumBecause we did the tour with the overnights and the arrangement of Monkey Island, we weren’t able to get a discount on our room in the Amazon house.. The tour itself was quite fun. However there were some activities mentioned on the program that didn’t take place due to dry season. it would’ve been nice to be informed about this. ;) Also the cabins in the Amazon were more basic than we expected, as the pictures they showed us were different from the cabins we eventually got. Our guide Raoul was a good guy and could speak English which was great as wel!
We were welcomed by Karina, who is the very bubbly and friendly owner of Amazon House. We wanted to do the Amazon tour but weren’t sure how many days because the activities you did on the tour depended on how many days you were going. Karina arranged the extra activity to go to The Monkey Island which is normally not in the itinerary so that was great! Furthermore did she also give us many tips regarding restaurants, other activities and transport. TIP for Amazon House: everybody loved the Monkey Island so definitely an activity to consider putting into the usual itinerary;) The room was also very clean at the apartment and we had AC to cover the heat.

Local hostal with comfortable roof terrace with hammocks, and very friendly owners. The rooms are simple but comfortable, in the end, it is what I had expected for what I had paid.

PeruKarin is a super nice great host, who makes lovely breakfast and adapts everything so that you have a perfect stay. It's not in the center, but in a quiet safe neighboor-hood. I felt safe there and you have everything you need. If you don't know what to do, just ask Karin she know all things to do and is always happy to help out and even send you whatsapp messages to make the best out of your stay. She is a little jem.

TurkeyThe hostel consists entirely of rules, signs everywhere telling you what you can and cannot do. For example, you are not allowed to use the kitchen after 8-9 o'clock. Since I was cooking after 9 o'clock, the host came and told me to stop (in the middle of cooking), so there was no point in all my ingredients going to waste and he was very insistent. You will come across warning signs on everything from how to use the refrigerator, how to use the bathroom, how to enter the toilet! Be prepared to smell damp in the room and be breathless all afternoon due to the heat and humidity combined with dampness, and if you want to use AC they will charge you a difference of “30” soles! And even though the room was not completely cleaned, they changed our bedspreads once every 4 days upon request. Check out at “11” am. Very Of course, there are warning signs on the back of the door: "You can be late for 15 minutes, but if you are more than that, they will demand 50% of the money." On the check-out day, at 11.25, the door was open and all my belongings were collected, although I was only checking the room, the officer who did not speak English entered the room and made a hand gesture. and tried to take me out with a scolding tone. Even though I told him I was checking the room, his actions were unacceptably rude! Then I left the room, went to the terrace, took our bags and emptied the room. Then the other officer “supposedly” came to apologize, but instead he reminded me that it was the hostel's rules and said that I would not be allowed to sit on the terrace after check-out, and kicked me out of the common seating area and the hostel, saying it was 11.40! If you think you deserve this treatment and want to spend a holiday with your money without being afraid of the rules, I definitely recommend it!
If you want to have a family experience completely full of rules, you are in the right place.

PeruIn general my stay was ok, however I booked a full day tour and it was not what they said and mentioned in a contract that I signed. I wanted to go to a sanctuary to see rescued animals and I ended up in a zoo. Animals locked and they also allowed to feed them and taking pictures with them. Very sad situation I asked them to return to town and they didn’t make a refund even though that was not what I signed and did not try to calm down the situation. The guide did not show up anymore.

United Kingdom1. The front door requires a key to leave. Dangerous if there was a fire as you can’t easily get out. 2. Price quoted in USD but payment taken in soles. Hostel determines their own exchange rate, which doesn’t appear to have any relation to global exchange rates, meaning the property cost us £6 more than expected. Had we known, we wouldn’t have booked. 3. There was a hair on the sink which wasn’t ours and definitely wasn’t from someone’s head. 4. The shower was dangerous and kept tripping, meaning the hot water would go off and the lights would flicker. 5. Pillows were stained. 6. Breakfast very average. 7. Hostel seem to overcharge for services. Looking at other reviews, we should have realised this but as we weren’t booking a tour through them we didn’t think it would matter. This was until we were quoted 70 soles to go to the airport the evening before we needed it - 20 more than they told us the day before (it’s about a 20 min journey). The hostel will say this is because of the time of day - this is untrue, as when we checked in we said it needed to be 5am and specifically asked whether any transport was available at that time in the morning. The guy said at that time in the morning, it was ‘safer’ to book with them for 50 soles. When I was unhappy with this and say ‘I feel that you’re taking advantage of us’, a lady from the hostel proceeded to scream at me and insult me for 10 minutes, that it was her house etc., that I was no lady and even told my boyfriend to reconsider his relationship with me. It was absolutely insane and after reading other reviews afterwards, seems to be a common reaction when guests realise they have been massively overcharged. I can anticipate the hostels response to this to save grace - but she went completely over the top and took it way too far. I was ordered to ‘apologise’ in front of her family for daring to speak to her this way (I.e.
The gentleman who checked us in seemed nice.

PeruThe location is not the best, so taking a tuk tuk became expensive. It's not in the city centre. If you don't have problems with walking a bit, great.
The hostel is a small house, but it has almost everything you will need during your trip to Iquitos. The room was cozy, clean and quiet, the bathroom was also well-equipped. The TV had access to Netflix, so it was easy to watch a nice movie. Regarding the breakfast, it was fair and had a nice presentation.

There have some shop near the hotel that can buy the ingredients. And it is very close to the square. Thank you Carolina to help plan the trip in the city. Thank you for the arrange taxi at the airport ( with extra money) and all the penitent on what’s app communication. Thank you for the wonderful breakfast.
