Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe only less positive aspect was the mattresses of the beds. They would be ok if I was 15 years younger :-) An investment in this would for sure tempt me to go again for a longer stay.
The garden, the space of the bungalow (was not expecting it to be so spacious)

NetherlandsThe bathroom was outdated and the shower was really poor (it was either too hot or too cold and took forever to change). The kitchen was a bit smelly.
The garden and the room looked amazing, as was the atmosphere at the accommodation. Also the pool was great.

CanadaCold in the kitchen and dining room/lounge. A pod coffee maker is supplied but no pods so don’t forget to bring your own.
the location was close to Evora, Monsaraz, and Estremoz. Nice to have a heater in the bedroom. The small town itself is a major centre for ceramics with many excellent local artisans. Parking is free and easy just outside the property gate.

PortugalCheck-in and check-out was made over the phone. As it was raining, water poured in from outside. I felt that there owner was careless regarding the facilities. For example, the swimming pool bar was left dirty, abandoned and left on its own.

IrelandThe bathroom could do with an update but was perfectly clean and functional. The latch on the window didn't close properly and I came back to find my window open a couple of times but the manager was very understanding and said it would be fixed.
The setting is lovely, secluded and peaceful. The pool area and bar are a great addition for relaxing and the manager was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay.

PortugalI am not sure if we were unlucky with the bungalow that was given to us or these issues are present in other bungalows, but the room failed in for me most important components and that is why I can not recommend it. The room was very very humid and moldy, first night we could barely breath there. There is no window that you can open besides small window in the toilet. There was mold on pillows! Our towels for shower were placed in a basket full full of mold and fungus. This is for me unacceptable. It smelled as if black mold was inside of walls, which is a big health hazard for guests! The third night, I was a bit coughing, but luckily it passed. The floor was cement floor, even in the toilet that for me personally was very uncomfortable. There was no single tile in the toilet hence mold all over. Cement floor inside the shower was rusty, that was very nasty to watch. Mattress was very very uncomfortable, it was making noise when moving and you could feel springs. If not investing i mattress they could invest in topper at least. I was waking up in pain through the night and I thought it was because I am almost 7 months pregnant, but my partner was also in pain every night. We slept really badly. Pillows were very tiny, very thin. There were 2 decorative pillows, but were covered in mold!! I went to read reviews of other people after we discovered all of these and saw very rude and aggressive comments to people's reviews. Because of that also my grade is low. It didn't make us feel comfortable to complain while there.
Location is great, very calm, and it felt very safe. There is no parking and streets are a bit tight but we managed to always park our car around the accommodation in one of the streets. Lady that waited for us and welcomed us was nice and kind, she turned on AC in our bungalow to heat it a bit prior to our arrival. The garden is beautiful, full of vegetation, looks like a little oasis. We didn't use the pool as we were entire day out but pool was ready and I saw other people using it. Our room/ bungalow also had very nice decoration with attention to small details. Visually, at first, it looked really well, it is a pity that floor was cement and the quality of the room itself was not good. Room was however equipped well with an AC, TV, small kitchen consisting of microwave, stove, fridge, etc.

United KingdomBedding was damp and unit i was in smelt very strongly of damp so as other units not booked i changed rooms and stripped the bedding to put sheets outside as they were also damp. Pillows stained. I Informed owner. This may be to do with lack of use/being heated but i spent an hour dealing with above when i could have been chilling out after a long cycle (touring the Alentejo region). With all above aside it was a pleasant stay but i have stayed in far nicer accommodatio on my trip for less money.
Great location and garden. Very quiet.

GermanyOverall the place is a bit dirty and it smells like cat pee. Cats are all over this place. The staff told me to not sit on the sofa in front of my room because the cats sleep on this sofa and I will have itchy legs afterwards. I recommend to open a animal shelter if you place cats over paying customers. Sadly I can not recommend this place
Pool and poolbar are nice. Rooms look on the first view cozy.
