Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germany1.I would really wish that they hired more staff as the staff especially the reception and room cleaners had way too many tasks to handle at once and do their job 100%! The breakfast staff has to hand wash the dishes - yes we love the old flair but no one minds a dishwasher! The same staff had to clean the rooms after with one other person as help and also do the reception. There’s way too many tasks at hand for the staff and I’m speaking as a person who has worked in the hotel business myself. The staff try’s to meet every requirement but the circumstances make it impossible! I hope the staff gets paid well and they should as well with more staff being hired as they’re doing a fantastic job 2. sometimes the breakfast wasn’t as good as other days as the staff was busy at the reception (even the chef has to do the reception sometimes) 3. and the rooms could have done with a higher standard of cleaning esp the floors… the customer shouldn’t pay for lack of staff esp as room rent is high! 4. It’s an old style villa but some of rooms could be more fixed up (walls painted, floorboards mended…) even in an old fashioned style there’s a higher standard 5. WiFi schould also be available in the rooms as it’s more distracting in the common and dining rooms - why have WiFi in the social areas where u should socialise instead of the private rooms ?
The atmosphere of the old villa, the beautiful view onto the bay and the staff were absolutely outstanding!! You could borrow towls for the pool at the reception. They grow their own fruit and vegetables in a garden below the pool area and had a massive choice of that for breakfast. The dinners were very divine - thanks to the chef! Breakfast offers a great choice too, there’s eggs fried and boiled, cakes and natas, vegetables, different bread and croissants, cereals and many more things!

LithuaniaThe location of the villa is at the top of the mountain so it really requires good driving skills to get there. It took a couple of days to get used to the roads of the island all together.
The villa was absolutely amazing. Me and my sister felt like staying at home. The rooms were cosy and cleans, the living/dining room is beautifully decorated with calm music playing in the background, cats staying around which creates a charming atmosphere at home. Food at the restaurant was delicious, options for breakfast would serve the fussiest eater. Pool areas was never overcrowded, with a lovely views to the village. Staff is very helpful and friendly, always available around to help.

United KingdomThe only issue for us was the very steep streets & lack of local buses, not having a hire car meant we did a lot of very steep hill walking.
Very stylish boutique hotel. Lots of nice areas to chill out. Very good breakfast, just lovely surroundings too.

United KingdomWe booked a superior double and I was very disappointed to get a room that overlooked the road at the back of the hotel and had no view. Our young adult children had a standard twin room which was far nicer and had a lovely view. Not sure the grading of the rooms is very fair. I would have complained but there was never anyone on reception and I think the hotel was fully booked.
Great boutique hotel in the hills with marvellous views and amenities. It felt like a small country house hotel, but more affordable. Dinner and breakfast was very good. Lounge areas delightful and full of games and books.

EstoniaThe room was a bit cold in the evening but luckily there was an electric radiator that we turned on when we arrived after the day out.
It was a very nice hotel, it felt like being in another era. The staff was very polite and friendly. The breakfast had a wide variety. We also had dinner at the hotel one evening and enjoyed it.

United KingdomCars or taxis are a necessity. You dont see people walking about or pedal bikes, its way too steep right from the hotel gate. Taxis aprox 10 Euros to town and are plentiful. Dogs bark continuously, 24/7. The smaller ones are ear piercing and set of the others which echo in the valley. I often had to shut the balcony doors to be able to read. If you like cats then they are all lovely. I suffer from allergies and there are quite a few of them on lounge furniture and outdoor wicker chairs.
Very comfortable room with double bed, balcony and fabulous view Outdoor seating, gardens and pool lovely ambience. Breakfast superb, chef very good for limited pre-ordered evening meals up to 3 courses Graziella is a very special and helpful employee with nothing too much trouble for her to help out with. Thank you Graziella 😊 Lounges and living areas with honesty bars are very pleasant to be in. Ponta do Sol is about 10 mins by cab down very steep valley to pebble beach area. There are also buses but not many daily. A few restaurants, excellent pharmacie, small supermarket and petrol station

Czech RepublicThe shower. I understand the hotel wants to keep the original appliances but if some of them are not working properly they should be adjusted so they work adequately. Because of this malfunction, it was very difficult to take a decent shower.

GermanySimple things like fresh eggs or fresh scrumbled eggs were missing at the breakfast. Breakfast was quite complicated to prepare for the stuff and it would be nice if stuff would spend more time in good fresh hand brewed coffee and fresh eggs and omelettes and not so many prepared cold various dishes like mushrooms with cheese, cold omelettes and different cakes.
Breakfast was good, many options and very time demanding for the stuff. Hotel has good views from the rooms, is quite beautiful.

LatviaIn the first morning we were going to breakfast at 9 (breakfast starts at 8) and there was some leftovers and no one was filling up vegetables or omlettes. People after us were coming to breakfast and there was only some bread and cheese slices. Altought we booked superior room, we had unpleasant view outside the window - road. We couldn't leave the windows open because everyone could see inside the room (that was first floor). If it's hot outside it's really hot in the room.
This hotel is amazing. Interior and the view - spectacular. There is a possibility to eat dinner what I recommend because there isn't much restaurants in the area.

RomaniaOur room had two adjoining beds instead of an extra large double bed. There were some renovation works ongoing while we stayed at the villa so it was noisy during the day (and dusty on the hallways..) To get to the villa you need an experienced driver 😁 There is no conditioner in the bathroom. The coffee isn’t good.
The villa itself is beautiful, the surroundings are great, there are all sorts of trees and decorative flowers all over the property, the furniture and decorations are fitting, friendly cats, the food - both breakfast and dinner were tasty. The staff is (almost) always ready to help.

United StatesWhile not a huge issue for us, there are a lot of flies during breakfast which could be off putting to visitors. This is because of the natural surroundings. Mesh covers for the food platters would be helpful. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our breakfasts and the beautiful setting of the restaurant.
What a beautiful place! The staff here are incredibly warm and friendly. The hotel is lovely with beautifully decorated and comfortable shared areas with wifi access. Wifi does not reach the rooms, but it’s an excellent opportunity to disconnect for a bit. The room was very comfortable and clean. There is no AC or fan, but we felt cool and quite comfortable despite our stay occurring during the peak summer heat. The breakfast was delicious and varied in a buffet style, and we enjoyed one dinner there.
