Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe hotel utilities are little bit worn. The hotel isn't for the people who likes a right angles of the walls. 😀
Good hotel and good price. Nice location, very good wines.

United KingdomI seem to recall there was a slight smell in the corridor leading up to my room which wasn't great... it smelt of drains or something. But it wasn't a problem. You couldn't smell it inside the room. I think the hotel also upgraded my room for me probably because it was quiet due to the time of year - good business move if so. It was a really nice room. Thank you.
Beautiful hotel and great value. The breakfast was nice but I didn't know what I was ordering. That was my fault! I need to learn Slovak. I just pointed at the menu and the girl brought me something. lol.

Czech RepublicThe staff - they are very passive and seem to "not care" about your needs. When I asked about wines served in the restaurant, the waitress did not know where they are from - and she even did not bother to go and check the labels. I had to go to the bar myself to look on the bottles (crazy thing: they only have a few wines to sell by glass - and they are not very high quality and come from different wine regions - this is completely not understandable when running a hotel in the heart of a wine region with many wineries just round the corner!) They often just sit aside and don´t care if you have any needs or wishes. Also what I did not like is this hotel is popular for wedding parties over the weekends - this makes a lot of noise which comes into hotel rooms. They should not sell rooms to guests if they have a weeding party on.
Hotel is very nice and well maintained. It has a great restaurant - you get very good meals for reasonable prices (compared to standard in the area) - kudos to the chef! Location is good - in the centre of the wine region.

UkraineThe room we were accommodated in first had a leaking sewage pipe and cause of that a bad smell in the room. We were moved to the other room which was smaller than the first one but all fixed and had no smell. The only thing is that there wasn't a shelf under a sink mirror so we had to use a glass stand for all our bath stuff. And the other con is that for four nights we were staying in the hotel nobody cleaned the room once. Not a big deal since we were leaving early and getting back at night, but emptying the trash bin and filling up the toiletries would be good. For example, we had to ask the lady at reception for toilet paper or we had to buy a shower gel by ourselves instead of asking for it every time.
Overall it was a good experience staying in Sebastian u Hoffera hotel. Clean, comfy, warm (sometimes too warm), equipped with everything necessary room. Awesome stars and moon view through the ceiling window right from the bed. Breakfast - same every day but good enough. Nice and cozy restaurant with delicious meals and affordable prices. The staff was great, helpful, and polite. Located in the center of Modra, next to the bus stop to Bratislava which is a 1-hour bus ride away.

Czech RepublicThe rooms were had attic which was not cleaned. We didn't need it so I didn't check it, but kids explored it and came back covered in dust. It is a small town hotel so at 22:00 there is no service of any kind to be provided by the hotel - truth is that a security guy will come to open the front door after you ring the bell.
The room was big, A/C present which is not automatic in Slovakian hotels especially at this price. Location is super-central in Modra. Restaurants are at a doorstep and the historical building is nice.

SlovakiaOur room was quite big but simple thing as a normal size mirror was missing and bathroom definitely needs some repair. Quite noisy because of ,,Večierka,, across the street.
The location is great but quite pricey for what the hotel actually is.

UkraineWe were looking for accommodation for 3 people (2 adults and a 15-year-old child). Since there were no free rooms for 3 people, we reserved 2 double rooms. You had to pay for the rooms at the hotel. When we checked into the hotel, we were told to pay a higher price for the rooms (approximately 5-6 euros more), saying that their software showed this price and nothing could be changed. In addition, we were charged a tourist tax for 4 people; the explanation was the same as in the previous sentence. It looks like cheating customers, and I am very outraged by such actions. Since paying directly from the booking.com website was impossible, I wonder if other visitors are being cheated in this way from time to time. I also didn't like the answers of the reception employee, who, explaining one of the reasons for such a difference in cost, said something like this: "Rooms in our hotel are expensive, but you got them much cheaper with your big discount from booking.com, you have nothing to complain about." Rooms: I didn't like that the towels in both rooms smelled of sweat, and after wiping, you just felt that smell on yourself. There was a refrigerator in each room, but two of them were already very old, and in one room, it was impossible to open it because the door of the bedside table in which it was located was in the way. The handles on the taps in the bathroom should also be repaired. One of the beds in room #9 was unstable and the bed wobbled Breakfast: We paid 7 euros per person for breakfast, but it was not worth it; there was a minimal selection of dishes (I'll try to add 3 pictures from the breakfast).
Location: good location of the hotel in the center of Modra. Near the hotel, you can find parking spaces. There is a restaurant in the hotel, also close to other restaurants. Rooms: Generally not bad; mosquito nets are on the windows, although some are already worn, and there are air conditioners. If you check in late or return to the hotel late - it is convenient that there is a bell, and the guard will open for you.

IrelandThere was no shower-curtain around the bath rub. Consequently, it was impossible to avoid spilling water everywhere. I had to wipe up the bathroom floor with towels after using the bath. The water in the bathroom wasn't hot in the evening and only tepid on the second morning of my stay. I wasn't able to enjoy internet access in the late evening/early morning. Who switched it off??? It must only be accessible from ca. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m Maybe the receptionist didn't realise that some people need internet access during the early morning and late-night hours to keep in touch with friends/family back home. Parking is also an issue. I had to walk a long way, carrying suitcases, after finding a safe place to park my car (near the police station!).
The breakfast was okay but even though I showed up for breakfast at eight o'clock on the second morning of my stay, the coffee machine wasn't dispensing coffee and the juice containers needed to be re-filled. There was just enough orange juice for one glass; no apple juice at all! The assortment of foods was satisfactory, however.

United KingdomOverall the hotel was really nice and we enjoyed our stay. My only comments would be that the staff could have been friendlier and were not the most helpful - we were made to feel like a pain for being there as a group of friends and when we asked for some help booking taxis as non slovakian speakers we were simply given a number to call and told to call them ourselves. The breakfast was not replenished, so we turned up at 9am - for a breakfast that lasted from 7-10am and almost all the food was gone. Also NB. they don't have an immediate record of bookings paid for through booking.com so we were charged twice. However, refunded very quickly when we realised - so this is one to watch out for.
The hotel is in a good location in Modra and has a great restaurant offering. The rooms were nice, sizeable and comfortable.

NetherlandsThe staff did not wear face masks and the distance during the breakfast was not kept (hence no breakfast, just took coffee to the room). The wifi did not work. There was a layer of dust in the wardrobe and mold in the shower where it also stank from the drain. A window could not be open because mosquito net was broken.
The location is in the very center and quiet. The bed sheets were clean. The staff was nice - I was allowed to stay in the room for 30 minutes longer to finish a call.

United KingdomIt was sixty euros for a room that wasn’t worth fifteen. Cheap poor quality fold out camp bed in a room with a sloping ceiling where it was impossible to stand up. When I sat on the bed I fell through it injuring my back as all the wooden slats had been removed and were lying under the bed. The WiFi in my room was unusable. It was a frustrating and ridiculous waste of money. Clearly they charge sixty euros because Modra is a tourist town but in most of Slovakia a room like that would be 12 euros. I would have been angry about the low ceiling and useless bed if I was paying 12 euros. Paying sixty euros I was enraged. When we arrived they told us there was no food and the restaurant was closed. We went out to eat and returned to find the restaurant full of people eating. Liars and thieves.
The breakfast was good and the location was reasonable.
