TV channels and Netflix weren’t working. The suites are separate from the hotel so you need to walk across the road for breakfast etc (not ideal).

Centrally located in Stone Town. Decent breakfast. Large room in the Suites section of the hotel.

The wifi was slow. Our television didn't work the entire stay.

I loved the authenticity and history of the facility. Very clean and gives you the energy Arabic emperor design. The breakfast was perfect. The location you could not beat. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. They allowed us to have a later checkout which was very helpful.

We had no hot water during our stay (were allowed to shower in a different room on morning of check out). There was mold on ceiling which can easily be rectified

The location was great, staff were super friendly and helpful, beach access, breakfast buffet was wonderful.

I tried to use the public toilets close to two of the pools and one didn’t have water and the other was dirty.

Rooms were very clean. They have different buildings so I guess that the more expensive rooms are in the main one. They have also three pools and a nice restaurant with sea view.

I’ve asked for 3 separate beds which were not available upon checkin.

Great kolonial building with perfect location. Nice pools, breakfast and friendly staff. Small fridge in thermometer and tea/coffee facilities. Nice outside dining facilities. No alcohol.

We booked a room in the main building but got one in the annex...we did not complain because it turned out ok

At breakfast we especially liked spiced coffee .... and the guy who was making omelettes and the girl making pancakes. In general, all the staff was polite and funny, making jokes but not being intrusive at the same time. The hotel has a certain flair to it...perhaps its history has to do with it. Had lobster for lunch which was super good and normal price.

The hygiene of food preparation leads you to the pharmacy, regardless of the stars of the hotel. Bdw: buy antibiotics and probiotics, advises the pharmacist. Recommend that the staff use gloves when preparing food and use boiled water for preparing fruit and salads. An excellent starting point for all tours, once a house, now the museum of F. Mercury, 50 m away. 200 m from the hotel by the sea on the platform there is an open kitchen every evening, a lot of offer, good and fresh food, very low prices. I recommend!!

Breakfast is varied enough for all tastes, delicious. Only their coffee, they don't know expresso.

It was located in the very heart of stonetown, so it will be perfect for those expecting night life. Room was quite small and old but it was very clean and well maintained. I have to mention breakfast was not great, but the fact you can have your meal besides the beach pays off a little bit.

    - our apartment was not located in the main building but rather a different building down an alleyway. the room was still amazing and it had its own pool but it was further away from the sea

    - great location, beautiful sunset observed - beautiful colonial building, which made you feel like you transported to the past - really good facilities - 3 pools (one of them infinity), nice area to relax, even a mini-private beach with sun lounges - helpful staff - very fairly priced - stayed in much more expensive places in Tanzania and had much worse experience

There was no elevator - Also the water in the hotel was slightly salty- very strange this has never happened to me anywhere.

Beautiful hotel, in an excellent location- safe, comfy beds, excellent showers, international television, wonderful staff, walking distance to everything, bank exchange and pharmacy 1 block away. Great restaurant nearby, excellent shopping. 1 block to Freddy Mercury museum and 5 minutes to slave museum. Easy access to spice tours and snorkeling

The water is salty, very weird and not great for shower and brushing teeth, they should provide more bottles of water for that.

It’s located near the port, markets and many restaurants. It’s clean and the breakfast is good. The staff are really the highlight, very friendly and helpful. Ali was superb and helped us so much finding tours and telling us a bit more about the local culture.

we were put in a room in a building away from the main hotel which turned out great as it has a very nice quiet private pool but the room was on the top floor and it was hard at times to walk up all the stairs
