How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Spiders in the room. But to be expected around so much water.
Excellent location. Walking distance to everything you need. Staff were great people. There was free WIFI but I did not use it.

No amenities - no continental breakfast. No common area space, no pool
It was clean! A lot of places around st. ignance and mackinaw city are run down and dirty - this place was very clean

Our only complaint is the room is described to have a bathtub in it and there was only a shower with a shower curtain that would not stay in all the way so water would go all over the floor. There were no hooks to hang up used towels either (if you want to reuse them like we do to save on extra laundry for hotel staff). It also looked like the shower curtain was not changed between guests as there was some kind of white "lotion-looking" spot on the curtain.
Great location close to the ferry to Mackinac Island. There is a circle K right down the road that is open later than anything else in the area just in case you get a late-night snack craving. The room was spotless and there was no evidence of bugs at all. I work at a Hilton property and have stayed in many hotels, and this was better than some Hiltons I have been to. The staff were friendly. No issues with our reservation and check-in was quick and easy. The beds were some of the most comfortable and softest sheets I have ever had in a hotel. it is a great price for what you get. It is a clean to relax and enjoy a vacation without breaking the bank. It was quite warm during our stay and the AC worked perfectly to cool the room to a very comfortable temperature. the water pressure in the shower was excellent and we had no issues with hot water running out. We did not get service during our stay (had a DND on the door) so no one went in. Some places ignore this sign and go in regardless, so it is nice to see they respect this wish. We will for sure stay here again next time we come to town.

receptionist had very few answers on the area. I would suggest that you give her a list so she can tell booked guests. Like where are the fireworks? the best restaurants?local sites etc.where is Kiwanis Beach?

The air quality in the room. We both woke up in the morning with dry sore throats. As soon as we left and went to breakfast, it cleared up. The room was very sparse… which wasn’t a big deal for us, we just needed a place for the night.

When we got into the room, there were dead flies on no the vanity and floor. There was no deadbolt on the door nor a peep hole. A man tried to get in our room and we had to call the front desk because we could not look out and he would not leave the door the first few times we asked.

The lighting in the room was okay but could have been brighter. There was a shampoo and conditioner dispenser in the shower, but there was no soap by the wash basin. There was a coffee maker, but a kettle would have been helpful.
Breakfast was not offered at this location. There was a diner a couple of blocks from the motel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was close to the ferry dock. The price was within our budget.

The entire front desk staff, morning, afternoon and night were beyond welcoming and friendly. Their smiling faces brightened our days. All front desk staff should aspire to be like them.

Poor Wi-Fi. The Ice machine design is not the most sanitary -- big container of ice that you scoop out of. Price was more than it should have been, but it was during a very busy time in St. Ignace and all hotels were overpriced for that night.
The location was very good for doing the Labor Day bridge walk. Very close to the ferry terminal. Good parking and easy access. Reasonably sized room
