Dingy brown towels and dark carpet floors didn't give an impression of cleanliness. Door jam had obviously been jimmied in the past so the old-school knob-lock and chain were pretty lame. Didn't feel safe. "Breakfast" was pathetic. We brought our own cleaning supplies given the revues. We sprayed all touch plates and surfaces with sanitizer. Wiped down all bathroom fixtures etc with sanitizing wipes. Jammed fresh smelling wipes into the AC vents to kill the bad odor. Glad we did all that. We got about what we expected - not much.

About what we expected - older budget motel. Weekend rates in the region run $250-350 for a decent place so our $100 room seemed like a decent price.

The dispute between reservation organization and the motel proprietor.

I appreciate the honesty of the proprietor. Your questionnaire assumes things not true. When I arrived at the Granada Inn Motel, the proprietor explained the situation. He explained that the reservation came to him for a room he did not have. He made multiple calls to the reservation agency, but was unable to resolve. He also left a message at my home phone on the evening of the reservation. But as we were on the road for 500 miles we did not know of the problem. There is a problem between the proprietor and the reservation service. The on-line reservation should never have been issued.

It had a very odd smell, almost like urine. The outside could definitely use a remodel. The outside carpet was worn and tore. There was many coats of paint on all surfaces. The fridge was stuck back in a cubby hole with really no walk way to get to it other than climbing over the 2nd bed. We booked a king but had to take a double queen. The bathroom was small and had water on the floor from a small hole in the ceiling. The vanity was stuck in the corner as an afterthought. The office was very narrow and could hardly accommodate 3 people in it without someone having to back out of the room. Their idea of breakfast was cold cereal from cereal dispensers in the narrow tiny office. I didn’t think to take pictures. We won’t stay there again.

Lack of communication and the abundance of people that were living in a hotel versus just staying a couple nights

Limited electrical outlets since my wife and I both have sleep machines. I always pack an extension cord when traveling should this happen.

My reservation was not listed in the computer even with my reservation number. Me and my friend has no where to stay in the Kalkaska area it ruined our trip and we had to return home because we could not find anywhere to stay in Kalkaska for the weekend, as there are only a few motels and they were charging $200.00 or more for one night and we said forget it so we headed back home. This motel did nothing to correct the problem and a confirmation number was shown to the clerk it didn't matter my name was not even in there. Shame on Booking com for not doing their job!! We had no room reserved by Booking.com.

I was not able to stay at the motel when I arrived but my reservation that I made days before was not on the computer screen which ruined my vacation in that area.
