Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCONS: - Hands down the worst mattress we have ever slept on, we could feel and hear the coils. When one of us got in or out of bed we thought it may collapse. To be fair, we were in room #19, maybe the mattress was bad only in that room, but it was very very very bad. - Tub/Shower faucet was difficult open - Ceiling fan light would not turn off. The room got hot so we had to leave the fan on but the light would not turn off and the only setting that worked was "high" - Lighting was not great, ceiling were too high for the LED bulbs they were using. - TV Remote was wonky, only buttons that worked were channel up/down and volume. PERSONAL MUSINGS: = I want to be fair to this property because it's adorable, priced fairly, employees were accommodating and friendly, and it's in a perfect location. That said, would I stay there again? Absolutely, but only IF they update the mattresses.
PROS: We went for a wedding at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center on the wharf. The hotel was 1.1 miles from the venue, which was perfect for us to quickly Uber from hotel to wedding. + Location is amazing. 2 blocks from the beach, 1 mile from the wharf. + Room was spacious + Relatively inexpensive for Santa Barbara + Added value great Grab & Go breakfast + Coffee machine available all day with plenty of variety to choose from + Great staff, friendly and helpful + Loved the nightstands, perfect for a CPAP + Spacious Bathroom / Good water pressure + Accommodated an early check in, HUGE plus after driving 3 hours to get there and wanted to shower, get dressed and relax before heading to the wedding.

United StatesThe walls are thin :( If you’re on the bottom floor you can hear people above you really easily. Also the inn is a bit old so walls had some damage but nothing crazy.
The property was close to the beach and zoo! I loved walking around the area. It is a 30 minute walk from some of the more busy areas but I love walking so it was not an issue.

United StatesBreakfast was referred to as a "grab and go". Microwavable egg sandwich or burrito. wrapped muffins. No fresh fruit. Those super sweet "yogurts" that aren't really yogurt. The coffee was hot and fine.
the location was great; near the beach and walkable to a few eateries. But not right in the snazzy part of downtown. (fine with me) The beds were comfortable, the room clean. You can tell it's an older building, but they recently repainted the rooms. The pool looked great, we didn't swim but a family was enjoying it. Nice that it is off the street.

United StatesI got the room because of the fireplace and it wasn't working at that point. BUT when I called the front desk, it sounded like a very temporary problem that happened to be randomly not working during our stay.
The walk to the beach would have been great if it weren't pouring rain when we went. This was a really cute hotel with, as my 16 year old stated, "a really fun vibe". It felt like an old school hotel that the stars would have visited in the 1950's. Very well kept up. And the beds were very comfortable, which was exactly what we needed after a long day of driving.

United States$15 extra for parking; glad we could find street parking to skip that charge. Breakfast was packaged muffins, and sadly burnt coffee.
Location, friendly staff, very clean, our room was in front & it was nice to have a big window looking out onto the neighborhood street. Found street parking in March; so skipped the $15 charge to park on cite

CanadaNot sure why there was $50 charge for incidentals as there was no room service (no restaurant) and no mini bar. Accidentally spilled some water in the floor...wiped it up and the white cloth was brown! I totally understand a fee for pets and appreciate that pets are allowed but can’t understand why this fee is charged daily instead of just once….seems like a bit of a “money grab”. However staff were friendly and accommodating.
Location was good…near the beach. Appeared that the Inn had been renovated not too long ago. Funky style but nice.

United StatesThe rooms seem to have portable stand alone heater. The older wall heater doesn't work. This was the second time we'd stayed there. The first time we didn't know the heat didn't work and ended up being very cold until some staff member finally said there would be a stand alone heater in the closet. There was, but we did not feel comforable leaving it on all night. This time we checked for a heater as soon as we arrived, put it on and by the time to go to sleep, the room was warm and toasty and we turned it off to sleep. That was the only issue. They should have told us when we got there the first time. But, as you see, we did go again to the Inn at the Beach a second time. We would go again.
The rooms very clean. The staff was cordial and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The location was spectacular, close to the beach with a good restaurant facing the ocean. The place is a little dated, but the area felt safe and was very quiet.

United StatesI would love it if they would offer almond or oat milk with the morning coffee.
We had a King bed with a high ceiling. Very light, bright, and comfortable. The beach is a 2-minute walk, and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. All of the rooms face into the courtyard or pool area, but it's a surprisingly quiet hotel, which we like.
