There were no washcloths or extra toilet paper. The tub didn’t drain. The area can be a bit questionable (people sleeping, or yelling on the nearby sidewalks).

The food at the restaurant/bar was mediocre as well as the drink choices at the bar. The room was ok except for our air conditioning unit which was poor.

The location was convenient to the Greek Theater for the Steve Miller concert.

The room was pretty small. It didn't even have a closet. I don't know why this always happens to me, but the keycard they gave me at check in didn't work and I had to go all the way back down to get a new one. But the front desk called to make sure I got into the room. So that was a nice touch.

This is a very nice hotel. It was clean and quiet and the room was nice. The insulation in the building is outstanding. I didn't hear a thing. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure was great. (I'm picky about that.) It's a nice location too.

It wasn't a big issue for us, but the barn door to the bathroom offers zero privacy. It didnt fit up to the wall and then wanted to slide open on its own. Also the tp is as thin as tissue paper. There were no kleenex. The body wash was empty. For the price, these are basic thing we shouldn't have had to deal with.

The staff was very attentive. Our room was spacious (for the area) and clean. I know it is an old hotel and not all the rooms are the same, but our king room was very nice with a large table, desk, closet, stand with coffee and such and a small dresser with a mini fridge on top. Everything worked and there were plenty of outlets for charging. The wifi worked, average for a hotel. The bed and linens were comfortable.

The air conditioner did not work in my room. The staff should have noticed this prior to my check in. I spent a very uncomfortable first night there. On the second day, when I returned to the hotel, I called the front desk. He immediately sent the maintenance gentleman to my room, and very quickly gave me another room. Maintenance checked the room prior to me vacating my original room, brought me the key, and escorted me to my new room. That unexpected service was really nice, and is what makes your hotel successful. The response, once I notified the front desk, was excellent.

We booked a room for four people, but the pull out couch was so small that our fourth person ended up having to leave. And the mattress that was on the pull out couch was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress should’ve been retired years ago. When we returned from the theater we put the bed together and found how uncomfortable it was, but it was 11:30 pm and housekeeping was closed, so we were told nothing could be done.

There is no parking at the hotel. Street parking but that's if you find a spot (we did). However, we did see a parking garage nearby.

We were visiting Berkeley with our son for a campus visit so this hotel was just a couple blocks away. The reception staff were all so friendly! Beautiful old hotel with well appointed rooms. Bed was SO comfortable, especially after a day walking all over campus! Large bathroom, lots of space, and great shower. We had a king suite that had a sofa bed and half bath in a room off the master. Table and chairs, small desk. Very comfortable all around.

Loved our room, the beds, and the water in the lobby. Zino is wonderful for dinner. Easy distance to many restaurants, and walkable to UC Berkeley.

While historic, the hotel is a little dated with the carpet and decorations. Walls are very thin. Rooms are a little small. Mostly minor aesthetic issues.

Location next to the Metro was great. Plenty of restaurants around. Love the historic aspect of the hotel. The Staff was very friendly and helpful.

AC a bit noisy. Be sure to get a room towards back or higher up in the building to avoid traffic disturbance from avenue.

Central location near BART station in Berkeley. Easy to reach by car or BART. Nice rooms, a bit oldfashioned. Fairly easy to find a parking in the streets around. Nice beds - stayed in king size and room with extra large bed.
