Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt did not look at all like the online photos. It had been changed and it was all a bit worn. The floors had rug/rubber panels that were coming up. The wall paint was a bit dirty and scratched and needs freshening up. The water pressure was a bit low, but adequate for showers. I thought the cooking stove in the laundry room was very odd and cannot be used in any safe, practical way. Also, the cooking would likely stink up the laundry room. Would be much better if there were cooking capabilities in each room. It was also a bit of a bummer that there is no parking facility for cars.
The location was good and the room was comfortable and had been cleaned prior to my arrival. The tv features were great, with streaming capabilities. The kitchenette , with fridge, sink, etc, was also a huge plus. The bunk bed was also cool and was bigger that I thought it would be. The laundry facilities on our floor is also a great feature.

GermanyThe noise from outside was constant. Due to the non working air conditioning, the owner has kludged a portable air conditioner into the window frame. This is noisy when on, and when off, noise from outside travels up the thin 6" air hoses. The TV probably works ok, if you speak Spanish overwise, you just mash the buttons until something understandable comes on. The corridors are smelly - very little ventilation in these areas. The lift lets you know you are approaching the fifth floor, with a load bang outside the cabin. Probably ok, but I opted for the stairs.
This hotel is in the heart of the city, and yet the common is 2 mins walk away - perfect. Shower was good and plenty of towels and sundries supplied. The bed was comfortable.

AzerbaijanVery small room, its rather students dorm than suite. No sound proof either inside or outside. Especially if you stay on weekend- you simply wont be able to sleep due to noise.
Location is perfect, lots of shops and cafe around, nice parks and groceries. Close to the theaters. You can also cook inside and do laundry (shared). Host is nice and responsive.

SwitzerlandAlthough well maintained, the place has a lower standard: carpet detaching from floor, stains on the chairs, holes in walls and doors. The bedframe is not stable, one person moving will be felt by all 4 sleepers. The AC unit is (very) noisy and its performance is barely adequate.
Check-in/check-out were very straightforward. Kitchen and bathroom were equipped adequately. The location is awesome: next to the Commons, to public transportation, to shops and restaurants... ("Democracy Brewing" next door is highly recommended, great food and IPA).

United StatesI thought the kitchen was in the property. It was a community kitchen. Beds were uncomfortable. AC was not effective. It was loud and ran the whole time and still didn’t get very cool.
Good location, clean, relatively inexpensive for the area.

SwedenThe room was quite clean, nothing to complain about really, bu the common kitchen and the staircase - something to improve.
Fantastic location - in the center of Boston, close to all historical sights you want to see in Boston! At first we had some misunderstanding with staff but we managed to solve all the questions via chat.

GermanyPlease update the refrigerator, it was way too loud and we needed to unplug it to be able to sleep, and I cannot imagine that this is costing a normal amount of electricity.
We definitely expected a bigger room since it says it fits 4 people. It can be a little bit tight but manageable. The bathroom was huge so it was a good bonus. The specialty was the kitchen, it was super well equipped and we enjoyed making breakfast there. However, the pots and pans could maybe be updated as they do look quite old and a bit dirty. Accessing the building is actually quite okay given all the codes one needs to use but the locations is quite unbeatable for the price we think.

CanadaThe air conditioner was good but kind of noisy. It would be great if there was a kettle and tea available. Also, more complete information about the entry codes (we didn't know we had to press * at the end of the code, this info wasn't provided to us in advance).
The room was a good size, as were the beds, there was a good sized fridge and kitchenette, everything we needed was there as far as an iron, hairdryer and so on.

BrazilOur room was faced to the front of the building, and the front street is noisy and windows isolation is not good. The portable air conditioning/heater was very noisy, even though we did not need to use it for extended periods as we got pleasant temperatures. At some points of the day, water was barely warm in the shower.
Location is good with easy access. Price is lower than other properties with similar good location. Room overall is okay, as expected for the price paid, even though furnitures/finishings are cheap.

United StatesIt was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but as I said, it was just me so it wasn't a huge deal.
You couldn't beat the location and the proximity to everything. The room was perfect for just me and the fact that I was in and out. Even though there was no staff onsite, I felt pretty safe.

SingaporeNo desk or table in the room meant days working on my laptop seated on the floor working at a coffee table. The "air conditioning" was a loud fan, having said that, it came in handy when I lost my quarters in the dryer and had to hang my clothes to dry by the fan. The neighborhood is a little rough.
When I arrived, the fridge was not functioning, but maintenance replaced it within a few hours. The price was good and water pressure was strong in the shower. I liked the multiple locks--outer building door, floor door, and room door. Great breakfast cafes on the block.
