Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis hotel is not equipped with bathrobes. Staff provide medium sized towels. Only 4 car parking space inside the property. Hot tubs area is a little bit too dark if used over night (spa is open 24 h)
We stayed at The Front Porch for 3 nights with our dog. Comfortable and cozy room. Kitchen equipped with everything you need (pots, plates, cutlery, oil, salt etc...). Very comfortable bed. The peculiarity of this hotel is that everything is quiet, in front of our bedroom (#4) there is a porch with waterfalls which are very relaxing. The external hot tubs are surrounded by plants and green, silent and very cozy. If you are traveling with your four-legged friend we recommend a hike in the "Arcata Community Forest" literally 5 minutes from the hotel. Trails are easy and surrounded by massive redwoods. If you prefer the beach, "Moonstone Beach County Park" is the perfect place to relax, read a book and walk with your dog (pet friendly beach).

United StatesThe town/area and street where it is located looks a bit sketchy. So much so I almost bailed on first sight. I’m so glad we trusted the 9+ reviews! Faint mustiness that’s expected when antique pieces are incorporated,
This secret garden is truly a hidden oasis! The courtyard gardens, sauna, and bath houses are amazing! The riverbed guest suit was so thoughtfully curated not only in design, but also had everything we needed (and even things we didn’t know we needed!) I loved that there was an unexpected bowl of farm fresh eggs in the fridge, random but fitting for the vibe! The French press coffee caraf, hot tea selection and electric kettle were comforts from home! My kids (10,14)loved the hot chocolate and microwave popcorn too!

United StatesNo AC in units. There was a note to let the facility know if you wanted a window fan; however, doing this would require the blinds of the bedroom to be open allowing anyone walking by the courtyard easy view into the unit. Not an ideal situation for privacy. Some of the soaking tubs outside were missing their drain plugs and one unit did not have a lock on the door.
Very cute and unique stay. The outdoor baths were a fun touch!

United StatesIt would be great to have an earlier check in time or later check out date so we can have more time in the tubs!
This was our third time staying at The Front Porch Inn and we will definitely return. The bed was so comfortable that my husband wants me to call and find out what brand of mattress we slept on! We took full advantage of the full kitchen and baked a spanakopita for our anniversary dinner. The kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tubs are beautiful and private, and the gardens looked amazing after this last winter's rain.

United StatesThe doors to the units can be heard and felt. Our unit was next to the storage room, too, which needed a strong pull to close? Anyway, the owners asked in their welcome sheet that everyone be conscientious when closing their doors and to use their quiet voices when possible. Our neighbor in unit 3 had their music streaming throughout the night and for reasons unknown to us, kept exiting and entering in their unit from midnight to 3 am. We didn't want to confront the neighbor because the behavior seemed really odd. Bring ear plugs, and maybe, melatonin if you are sensitive sleeper.
We stayed at FPHO because it was pet friendly. We love to travel with our dog - especially to go hiking. Whether you have a dog, check out the beautiful redwoods and many trails in the nearby Arcata Community Forest. FPHO's landscape is gorgeous and peaceful. We stayed in unit #4 the waterfall room which probably got its name because you could hear the waterfall fountain as you sleep. Shampoo, Condition, Bodywash, large bath towels, and wash clothes provided in our shower. There were also foaming soap, hand towels, ear cotton swaps, cotton balls (didn't use), and first aid kit (also didn't use). My spouse used the copper outdoor bath. I would have but did not like the little gnats flying above the baths. It was a 4 block walk to downtown (we loved Cafe Brio and Hole in the Wall sandwiches). You are also about 2 blocks away from the nature wildlife nature preserve trail, which we walked our dog in the mornings. Next door to the building is a brand new playground and half basketball court for kids and small patch of green grass for dogs to potty. We also found the little gem across the street - the Humbolt Pet Supply store, which had a self-serve pet bath, which our dog needed to wash off all the sand and salt water after a day at the beach dunes. We parked on the street in the quiet safe neighborhood. There is onsite parking but there are only 4 spots. The room was Bohemian decor - cozy and clean. We did not use the fully-stocked kitchen very much but loved that there were tea/coffee/creamer/hot chocolate/popcorn and fresh farm eggs waiting for us.
