How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The beds were not the most comfortable and noisy. (The frame is a metal box which makes sounds when you move) The bathroom was very tight and the sink was located outside of the bathroom. This was fine, but a towel bar next to the sink would have been appreciated. Also, a grab bar in the shower would be helpful for some people. The numerous stairs were a bit hard for us to climb especially with luggage. The little table and two chairs were very cramped. A drop leaf table would allow for more room when not in use.
The pool was nice and we liked that it was within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The owner was pleasant and accommodating to a special request we made.

The noisy, fighting guests were not enjoyable as the walls were thin and we could hear and feel everything. Thankfully, it did not last too long and they were handled later. The renovations completed are appreciated, and continued updates will continue to help raise the standard and quality of this location.
When my father's place was under renovation and unavailable for us to stay, we chose this motel for our time in Hampton. We knew the area well and were pleased with the quality of the room and its obvious renovations. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, with a mixture of updated and not yet updated furniture. We did not use the rooftop pool, but it was also evident that it was renovated and in good condition. The first night there were some issues with some fighting guests, but the owners took care to ensure they were dismissed the next day. The owner also was keen to take suggestions and to consider our experience. Overall, it was a good value and experience for those looking for a motel stay at Hampton.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like…the value for the stay couldn’t be beat. It’s not a 4 or 5 star hotel by any means but the prices per night reflect that! The bed was comfy and the facilities met our needs.
The location is great! We walked everywhere and never had to move from our parking spot at the motel. Having a designated parking space, especially during a busy holiday week, was crucial. Also, the owners were super friendly and accommodating.

The facility is dated but it is right in line with other lodging in the area. There wasn’t a closet to hang clothes or jackets. Half of the dresser didn’t open.
The shower head and pressure was the best I’ve ever encountered. The bed was very comfortable. Towels and linens seemed brand new. The room was spacious and very clean.

The lighting in the room could have been better. That's it!

The location. It was a very far walk to beach and boardwalk. Which was difficult for my husband with degenerative arthritis in his knees

The bathrooms are very small, which usually wouldn’t matter for us but we stayed with my father so we had to get dressed in there, and there was hardly any room to move. The sink is outside of the room.
The gentleman at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable, and everything was within walking distance. The pool area looked very nice. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating so we were not able to enjoy it.
