Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe mattresses were a bit too hard for our liking. Communication with the owners became a bit difficult when she wasn't around as the husband, though very friendly, understands and speaks only little English. Also the open kitchen and table in the hall is what they use privately, too So sometimes it felt as if we kind of intruding their personal space. The did not at all gave the impression, but the setting still made us sometimes feel a bit uneasy. This is not directly related to the homestray: Being located in a non touristy area means that restaurants usually do only have menus in vietnamese and most people do speak vietnamese only. That can make things a bit challenging for a non vietnamese speaking tourist. Google lens in the translate app is the thing you'd need if your interested in knowing what you are going to order.
A nice and quiet homestay within 15 minutes walking distance from the Hue railway station. It is run by a friendly young couple who care a lot for their customers. Breakfast is freshly made and of good quality. Potable water for refill of bottles is available, too. Everything is very clean. Good quality motorbikes can be rented at a good price. The owner will help to make arrangements for local tours and transport if required. The homestay is located in a non touristy part of town with a good selection of restaurants close by. We could easily find a mutually beneficial arrangement when we asked if we could keep the room until about an hour before the departure of our nighttrain. That was very helpful as we could have a shower and change dress after a hot and sweaty day in Hue.

ArgentinaThis is literally the best place I've ever stayed at, it felt like home. Extremely clean and comfortable, great shower, great location, great breakfast, very silent at night so you can sleep perfectly, air conditioner, great loundry service, and an AMAZING family running the homestay that will help with everything you need in a perfect English. They are great people and made us feel like home. I am so greatful with them. During our stay, my husband was sick and they literally acted like family, I can't thank them enough for everything they've done for us. They helped us so much, called taxis for us (even when we had to go to the airport very early in the morning), changed money for us, they helped us booking an amazing tour, they helped us with the doctors coming in to the hotel many times, prepared tea when he was sick and even prepared and amazing dinner for us because he was not feeling so good. I don't know what we would've done without them. If you have any problem at all, they will be there for you. And last but not least, they have the most adorable baby thay will guarantee you a big smile every day. Don't hesitate to come here, you will definitely have the best time. Everything was more than perfect in every detail.

FranceNothing. Everything was very good!
The family is adorable and helpful. The baby is lovely. The couple called taxi to go out and to come back to the homestay. They ordered food for us. The breakfast was delicious and it was different each day. We recommend for sure.

United KingdomWe only stayed one night, and it was heavily raining, so we had to take taxis anyway. However, the location seems to be a bit far from the city centre.
The room was new, clean, and spacious. The family running the place is very polite, friendly, and helpful: they genuinely love their job and have guests around. We even got a free transfer to the train station by motorbike, which was great.

PolandWhat could be improved is the electric output. When we were trying to heat up the shower, it kept disconnecting the electric board. We managed to work around it though.
Very simple, very clean room, very cozy. Anna was a great host, helped us in whatever questions we had and even in helping booking for us tickets from Hue to Phong Nha (our next destination). Any other questions or requests about tours or sightseeing that involved contacting other Vietnamese people, she was always helpful.

Great room, bed, shower and very helpful staff. Vietnamese noodle soup breakfast with meat. Free bicycle made the sightseeing much easier than walking. Got a lift on his motorcycle to the station. Again for free.

United KingdomI can't complain about anything… it's a homestay, not a 5-star hotel… I can honestly say that a posh hotel costing a lot more would not have been as nice as An Chi Homestay.
The young couple (Anna and Loc) that run An Chi Homestay are really lovely. They were extremely welcoming, breakfast was really nice, they invited me to have lunch with them on my last day… and Loc is a very good cook… and Loc gave me a lift to the railway station at the end of my stay… Oh, and they have some motorbikes for rent (at a competitive rate) which is really convenient

AustraliaWe knew it was not close to the entertainment and food precinct, but it is quite a long walk into town, making a Grab or taxi more essential than optional.
Very friendly owners and a comfortable and quiet homestay.

GermanyRoom door is flimsy. The hot water tank for the shower is small, so there's only about a minute worth of hot water. Pillow was too big for my taste, still slept really well though.
Was hesitant to book here, but very glad I did! Anna and her husband were lovely hosts. The property is close to a main road but tucked away, meaning it's nice and quiet. Room is a bit dark (a good thing in the summer), but has everything you need. Loved the blanket, can't believe it's cotton! Unlike other homestays I tried, it just smelled good. No trace of stale smoke or mold like other places. Excellent home-cooked breakfast prepared by the kind and caring hosts. Usually I avoid homestays, but I would certainly stay here again!
