Minor detail but lacked a small sharp/serrated knife, no microwaveable covered dish - all quite insignificant when overshadowed by all the ‘plus’s’.

There was an option to use the fireplace, and we were warned to supply our own wood, but we expected to find matches, but couldn't find any. This was fine when there was power, but when there was no power, we were unable to use the gas hob to heat water, as we could not light the gas (so not having a fire was not an issue - it was more not being able to make a nice hot cup of coffee or tea. We got matches the next day, and it was a definite improvement. We did feel that the windows could all have curtains in order to keep out some of the cold air out that inevitably creeps in via the smallest of openings!

There is ample space, and the bedding and linen was all fresh, with clean towels laid out for all expected guests as well as any extras that may not have been booked for. There was milk in the fridge, and some lovely crunchies, and the necessary tools and makings for coffee and tea. The gas heater worked really well, and kept us warm on the very cold nights! It felt like our home away from home!

There was nothing we didn't like. We arrived late and only slept one night and depart early the next morning again. It was therefore only a place to sleep but with no issues.

No nonsense, easy accessible, clean, comfortable and as described on Booking.com. We appreciated the ease of collecting the keys, the extra wood for the fireplace, the emergency lights for loadshedding and also the additional water. It's the small stuff that makes a difference.

The dreadful smell of fire that lasted for most of our stay - I think the people before us had obviously burnt a fire inside but the place was not aired between our stays, making the fire smell quite unpleasant and affecting my sinuses very badly.

It was spacious and had everything we needed.

While we all live in South Africa, and are well aware of load shedding, a heads up regarding the load shedding scheduled would have helped considerably, especially when it coincides with dinner times. However, the rest of the communication and the hospitality of the host was above and beyond.

The cottage met all expectations, it was cosy, quaint and met all expectations, there were sufficient amenities available. All the instructions to find the house were simple, to the point and accurate. The host was friendly, accommodating and provided good communication throughout the stay. The bottle of fresh milk in the fridge was a nice touch.
