Buccara is mainly a self-catering reserve with the option to have meals prepared. I took the option to have breakfast and dinner prepared and was sorely disappointed. Being a bit of a foodie, the menu was enticing but the delivery was poor.

The rooms were large with an ensuite with both a shower and a tub. The facilities had everything that I needed and the staff were friendly and responsive. The facility manager communicated well before, during, and after the stay. We saw over 15 species of animal during our game drive, which was the highlight of our stay.

That we had to share the house on teo nights with another couple. It was a bit akward but we managed. We mentioned that we would like to do a game drive but it was not offered. There is broken tiles in the passage to the bedrooms. The billiard table nets were broken.

It was peacefull. Well equipped. Nice bedrooms.

The host was incredibly accommodating and pleasant . I had made a few requests regarding the room ,which were treated with consideration and care and all our needs catered to. we stayed up the mountain which requires a 4x4 because a car would definitely not make it up. Luckily we were travelling with 4x4’s so this wasn’t a problem . We stayed in the main house which was lovely (if you dislike taxidermy I suggest you book in one of the other rooms ,as the unit is jam packed with them ). Surroundings were beautiful and serene and was an awesome stop over towards an onward journey either to the Garden Route or the cape. Late arrivals and late check outs are all charged for ,which isn’t mentioned . The place is quite expensive but I haven’t found any better offering in the area ,in terms of comfort and style . I would definitely use it as a stop over point again. Thank you mikaila for your kindness and care.

No breakfast. Location was great, would any time recommend this place to friends. Need however to stay over for 2 days and more. Not a one-night stay due to distance from main road. They are geared for load shedding, thus no darkness here.

The gravel road leading to the accomodation is very long and not suitable for small cars. That was my only issue. After the visit, i was expecting to have oil leaks and all other kinds of issues with the car due to the road quality.

Its secluded, serene and very comfortable.

I was expecting the worst, due to several terrible recent reviews, and honestly I can't understand what anyone would find to complain about. We loved our stay, it could only have been better if I'd been better prepared and brought a steak for the braai.

There were a number of issues I have to raise: 1) our arrival/welcome felt rushed and there were many questions we still had about our stay. 2) Our room is was not cleaned on the 2nd day so I had to make our bed, the lady said it was locked and I asked her why she didn’t have another key. She said the key was down at the office, implying she was too lazy to fetch it. Why would I leave our room unlocked all day? 3) Cooking or having a braai required everything from our side except the wood. We would have liked to have had some staff around to help us find a few things. I understand you can’t provide everything but being able to use a tiny bit of oil or tinfoil would have been really appreciated. I felt as though the staff and manager didn’t really take much care in the needs of the guests.

Room was very comfortable and the property surrounding was very nice.

More a hunting venue than an outright guest facility. The bar and outside / veranda areas were dirty and unkept. The bat droppings and dust was notable. The intrusion of dogs was not welcome. Very far from town which is difficult to take supper out, and then be back safely amid the danger of game on the roads after-hours in the vicinity. No one from hospitality management ever seen during our three night stay. Won't be back.

The privacy and beautiful views were very nice. The room was comfortable.
