The floors were a little grubby and unfortunately the area in which the hotel is located seems a little downtrodden.

Interesting historic building. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Super friendly and helpful.

The only thing I can really bring up is the part of town the hotel is situated at, it is not pretty and maybe not a spot I would pick to go for a walk in the evening. But the hotel has a good garden and my room had a really spacious balcony to get some fresh air.

This is one of those places that is just filled with history, I loved all the period correct rooms and hallways. It is not in the prettiest part of town, but it has safe parking and a great restaurant in the hotel that is very affordable. I was very pleasantly surprised by this really great an memorable hotel.

Smaller size food options like for when you don'twant the full meal - although the staff did go out of their way to make a toastes sandwich anyway

Staff bent backwards and very friendly and professional. Pieter the luggage handler and Johannes the security guard showed the same courtesy and helpfulness . very pleasant stay indeed. loadshedding resistant which is a big plus

The creaking floor boards in our room. The location did not feel safe enough to even walk around the block.

The hotel runs with few staff but they do a great job. Lots of historical memorabilia of interest - a real museum within a hotel. The courtyard with the enormous lemon tree!

This is a wonderful building - but sadly that is where it ends. The food menu was extremely limited as was the wine list - such a shame as with a little bit of investment in hospitality it could be returned to its former glory.

The accommodation is lovely - steeped in history - like taking a step back in time.
